Queen's birthday celebrations from Feb. 17
The 54th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Komal is to be celebrated for a full week from February 17 organising various programs across the Kingdom at people's level, RSS said.
"All the countrymen are looking forward to the Her Majesty's birthday celebrations as an opportunity to reaffirm their loyalty and faith," said Tarulata Rayamajhi, chairman of Auspicious Birthday Citizens' Main Celebration Committee.
Twenty-nine sub-committees have also been formed under the same committee in 70 districts, the national news agency further said.
Street festivals and peace race will be held on the occasion, the agency said, adding, clothes and sweets will also be distributed to mark the Queen's birthday.

Was celebrating birthdays even a part of our culture before the Nepal opened up in 1950? Did the Ranajis and the early Shah's celebrate birthdays or did you learn it from the West?
As far as I know, most people in Nepal do not celebrate their birthdays. I never did and neither did my village friends. but it we are pretty goddamn poor so we could've been exceptions...
Any sociologist on board????
