Dear Sajha community,

I'm writing to let you know that Peace Brigades International is working hard to establish a country program in Nepal. Peace Brigades is an international NGO that does human rights work in conflict areas, by bringing volunteers from other countries to act as international observers and accompaniment to local human rights workers.

You can learn more about Peace Brigades here: http://www.peacebrigades.org/

We've had a Nepal Progran Exploration Committee working for about a year now, trying to work out the details of a Nepal program. We've been reaching out to the human rights community in Nepal and asking if or how we can help them do their work in greater safety. So far, we have gotten positive responses and interest.

Now we are looking for funding. We have gotten partial funding from Finnaid, but we need to get some more to begin the project. We've asked other governmental agencies, and now we'll start asking private foundations.

I hope that this program can be a positive contribution to finding the way to peace in Nepal. I'm posting this here just to let people know about this program, and to get comments from anyone on the merits or problems with the program.
