First of all Jesus' biggest critic was a Jewish high priest, but that does not mean that the Jews killed Jesus! Mankinds sin killed Jesus! But lets get one thing straight; Jesus had the power at any moment to stop what had happened, but without His sacrifice you and I would not have had the opportunity to be forgiven for mankinds sinful nature. The movie shows the ultimate sacrifice that God had given to His creation. Let us all be thankful for our God who sent His only begotten Son to pay the price that we could not have not come close to paying. Yes, this movie is a very realistic version of what Jesus went through, but its about time someone had the courage to show the gruesome reality of what happened the day all of mankinds sins were forgiven. Believe on Him who died for YOU! Thank You Mel Gibson!

Jesus' last hours were violet, why would anyone want to see a movie on Jesus that was not factual? The movie arena is a perfectly acceptable place to address religious matters, however it is seldom that one is made based on solid Biblical facts. The controversy is absurd. As for Mel Gibson's career, I doubt it is 'in trouble' , he will be blessed for the work he has done, and much good will come from the making of this movie.

MEL GIBSON IS PURE GENIUS. This movie is NOT about anti-Semitism at all. It is heart wrenching to watch the graphic interpretation however it is pure brilliance in that Mr. Gibson makes you "suffer" by watching the cruel punishment that Jesus endured and suffered through. All you want to say is "stop! leave him be." For those that call it anti-Semitic I call you hypocrites! Jesus was a Jew, betrayed by a Jew and condemned by a Jews. His own people! It's obvious that the "Jews" who walk out on this movie can't face their own stigma. OSCAR OSCAR OSCAR FOR 2005!

Is it any wonder that a movie with such controversy from every quarter; believer,
agnostic, atheist, Jew, Christian or any other persuasion could propel the moral
absolutes question to a higher level of discussion at this time in our history? To
hear that a movie of such impact could result in lost souls being saved is a mir-
acle in itself. Consider that todays problems in our nation of judicial tyranny,
pre-teen drinking parties, pandemic STD reports from around the nation, blighted
communities in our cities, drug, alcohol and sex addiction, pornography every-
where, filthy language by teenagers even in G-rated movies, absence of discipline
in our homes, schools and even in our churches, corruption everywhere, and now
homosexuality spreading like wildfire with the gall to demand marital rights for
something which God declares is an abomination in His sight. Can we fall any
lower? To say there are no moral absolutes is a lie. Yet, our nation, these
great United States of America, have sunk to it's lowest level in it's history.
I believe this film will tax the moral state of our nation to the point of in-
trospection where many, many thousands will come to the realization
that the man, Jesus Christ, portrayed here is the answer to the problems
of the whole world. God works His miracles, through man, His way and in
His time. Jesus was perfect and without sin. And God sacrificed His only
son for us who were born in sin and whose righteousness is as filthy rags.
Oh, that's right, that's what the movie is all about, isn't it? Could this film
come at a better time in ou r history than this? I think not. Praise God!

Anti-Semitic? Jesus was a Jew. He was killed by Romans. I find it an impossible leap to call Mr. Gibson anti-Semitic. Jesus was sent here to die for our sins. It doesn't matter who killed Him... God pre-destined it to happen, therefore it's a moot point who did it.
I think it high time someone used main-stream Hollywood to accurately address a sensitive religious issue. Everyone needs to see the true brutality and suffering our Savior suffered on the cross. Remember, He did this for you, whether you believe in Him or not. Just watch and see what He endured - for you.
As far as Mr. Gibson's career: Do you suppose he may have been thinking of something much more significant - his eternity?

Deeply moving, life altering, no more excuses movie! I was taken away by the depiction of the suffering Jesus endured. It left me with overwhelming grief as to what mankind had become. It wasn't Jewish grief or Roman grief, it was mankind sins that grieved me.
It cause me to think and ponder my dedication to the cause of Christ. It energized me to do all I can to further that cause beginning with my own actions. My sins, the world's sins were upon his shoulders! What an enormus burden. He will not have suffered in vain.
God Bless Mel Gibson! This movie will be marked as the greatest movie of the Century... 96 years ahead of time. One thousand times better than the Gospel of John and as big of a blockbuster as the Ten Commandments.

Overall I was a little disappointed with the direction that Mel took with this movie. Granted, he wanted to visualize the last 12 hours of Christ, but I feel that in doing so the movie dragged in some areas and the violence was definately overkilled. (ie, how many times can you watch Christ walking in slow motion and fall?) And by doing it in this manner, I also feel that the true message of Christ and why he died was TOTALLY lost. Only Christians could possibly understand this movie, and maybe it would have been a better movie if it's point was aimed at a broader audience

If you like theocracy and want an all out war with other religious states, support this movie. Not since De Mille has their been such an attempt to polarize religious views for profit. If you've read the whole Bible, you can see what a distortion this is. If you are the average illiterate member of the faithful, you can confuse this Hollywood blood fest with the suffering of God. It is but only because it is hubris personified.

This movie is only for market and thats ok. But to say this is the best movie in along time and its only directed at one ****.com on. Its potrays Jews as evil and barbarious people. It shows the roman as good or lesser evil then jews which makes sense because romans wrote the bible. But historically thats not right, the romans were occupiers and mean ones at that. This movie is a fantasy that says its reality. This will mislead people and I put it on Mel's head if I get beat up!

Terrible. Gratuatious violance for the sake of violance. Makes Leathal Weapon look tame.
I don't know about you but without the backstory the last few hours are meaningless.

What a work of pure anger and bloodlust. Gibson seems to hate someone, and there is no doubt whom they are. His work has more blood and gore than a slaughter house in the stock yards. But then again, look at almost ALL of his movies, blood, blood, blood, violence and more violence. Like I said, this many hates something or someone.

I'm Buddhist, but went to Catholic school. I studied Christianity. I wanted to see this film from the point of thirdparty's view, not Christian nor the Jewish.
This flim isn't anti-Semitic. However, this film is open to anti-Semitics reading if you have no knowlege of Christianity. It makes me wonder what was Mel's real intention of making this film?
As you all know Mel Gibson is openly prejudice against Gay and Lesbian because of his religious belief. That presents his caractor. And he directed this movie. That makes me wonder his intention was not to show the passion of love by Christ, but to lead us to anti_Semitics? Well, Mel Gibon only knows the truth. Unfortunately,
this film is already creating hates toward jews. It is sad this film was produced.
I do not recomend any children to view this movie. It's too violent. I will not allow my children to see it until they turn 18. After the movie, I felt no passion of love, but anger toward Mel and the film company for making such a violent movie.

This movie is abnsolutely horrid! Mel Gibson and the Gibson family are known anti-semites and Jew-haters. This movie is perpetuating this view point and I am very upset and disappointed about that. Everyone KNOWS that the Jews did not kill Jesus. The Romans did! This movie provides a one-sided perspective that is not accurate. This movie will cause many people to become even more hateful to the Jews and I am waiting to see what kind of violence there will be in reality as a response to this film. I hope to G-D that MY synogogue doesn't get burned down or defamed in any way and that the school my children attend will be safe. This movie should never have been allowed to air!

For a movie that was made with the budget of 50 million, 20 million in the box office isa great start. I am not by all means a movie fan....but i would like to watch this one..now if only our theater was not shut down in my ghetto :)...
and before ppl start concluding what appeal the movie has or not...ITS A MOVIE...MOVIE not the portrayal of truth.

I just saw the movie. It was aight! just another movie about crusifixion... I have to agree that it's more graphic than any other movie I saw about jebus.... don't know about the controversy.. maybe it's just for making the movie more popular and making it a box office hit and making $$$
