Mahalisagar bund complete
Despite repeated requests from Nepal to halt it, India has completed the construction of the controversial Mahalisagar bund, The Kathmandu Post reported Tuesday.
The bund has been built at Mahali village in Siddharthanagar district in Uttar Pradesh, India. The bund borders Bhagwanpur in Bedauli VDC-9, some ten kilometers from district headquarters Taulihawa (of Kapilvastu district).
After the completion of the construction, some 400 hectares of land is likely to be submerged and at least 1,000 thousand families are going to be affected, the report said.
