Welcome, Ashley! DO as you please, but DON'T intentionally hurt anyone. The rest is history -- you'll be famous before you know it! ;)
lizardking Posted on 01-Mar-04 10:03 PM

The big fat DON'T. Stop bashing in the name of race cast and gender, which unfortunately is taking the big pick here.

Welcome to the house.

Oys speaking in Parcle Tongue? cunning linguist
hansy420 Posted on 02-Mar-04 08:35 AM

oys, that is THE most inspiring piece of advice I've ever heard :D
SITARA Posted on 02-Mar-04 08:38 AM

Hi Ashley! Welcome! welcome!

First the Do's:

Do Shashtanga dandawat to SAN.
Do Surya Namaskar to Biruwa.
Do write silly poems, serious stories and analytical musings.
Do ask how to make any Nepali dish. Our inhouse chef is Poonte.
Do ask about visa status and how to go about getting one legally.
Do ask for opinions on anything... we have tons of those; comes free with a bonus.
Do de-stress in Sajha when you are distressed; we have many inhouse counselors.
Do enjoy your time here; you may make many good friends and less enemies!

Don'ts:
Don't divulge your illegal visa status. You may be cited by Nepali Angel.
Don't get into arguments without your back up statistics, vital stats included.
Don't rile SAN, you may be taken to Sajha court by the judge, jury and executioner: SAN
Don't man bash; you may be squashed by women bashers.
Don't divulge that you are a Bahun, you may be stripped of your caste.
Don't play poem dohoris; you may be accused of being a Sajha flirt. Or worse you boyfriend might break up with you!

All in all: Do come here often...this is the best place to interact with Nepalis without revealing your sex, identity, age, name or sexual orientation!!!!!!!!!

Ofcourse... some in jest! ;)

For,

Politics – learn from and fence with the rapier sharp Messrs. Ashu, Biruwa, Biswo, Isolated Freak, Nepe, Suvachintak.

Spirituality - Gunaraj, Trikal, Sitara and many learned minds that illuminate and soothe.

Funny bone – Messrs. Deep, Dhumbass, Kalankisthan, Marich, Poonte, Suva Chintak, Rastafariya et al will have you in stitches. Have Kleenex handy.

Literature and Poetry – Deep, Jira, Kalankisthan, Marich, Nescient, Oys, Nepe, NK, Robert Frost, Rusty, Sitara and a host of other prodigiously talented writers/poets on board. Again, Kleenex often required. With wit and verve, they have you yearning for ‘home’ as these masters skillfully cast aside the veils of time and distance. To take you down memory lane with such vivid force you feel the heat, dust and excitement. Stories that capture the warmth of motherly love, the camaraderie of friends, the first stirrings of love. Join in the magical circle of “The Handigaon Chronicles.” And let the poets herein quench the thirst of your soul, stir your mind or be entranced by the vistas they paint.

Martial arts –En garde! Veritable viragos at the drop of a hat, expect pyrotechnics. Those hose with angelic appearances are capable of leaving the Bard himself at a loss for words.

Mindware – Arnico, Ashu, Biswo, Najar, Nepe, Oys, Parmendra, Poonte, Simplegal, Sitara, SuvaChintak come to mind, but many others who educate and engage the mind.

All names listed in alphabetical order, not by preference. There are many more but these illuminaries come to mind. Apologies to those that I have inadverdently failed to mention.

DO – join the party, share with us your take on the universe, sharpen your blade and strengthen your wrist, have fun.

DON’T – be addicted, take offense quickly or pick fights, break too many hearts!

In the words of Captain Picard “ENGAGE” !

Expand your boundaries, that's all I have to say.... Write about what you feel like, shed your anger and get out refreshed to start a new beginning. At least that's what I do when I go to the chat room. SHOUT OUT LOUD on the subjects that I cannot in the real life.
SITARA Posted on 02-Mar-04 12:10 PM

And if you need educated information,

CZAR is the inhouse encyclopaedia/dictionary/aviator/linguist (French)/dream merchant/charm pedler/fiddler on the roof/knight in shining armour!

:P

Wow. That was handfuls. That was a cozy welcome. Varieties inside sajha garden amused me, should I say. I am in high spirits to park in sajha land full of talented rockers and shakers. Being in foreign land for more than 10 years and finding oneself squeezed in between American dreams and Nepalese ethics, I am sure there are many lost Ashleys around. Unfortunately I am blessed with very few Nepalese in my state. Its always blissful feelings to be around your country fellows. Jen, Ben and Sam might have encouraged me to live hard and die easy but there is always a call for your own people to share thick and thin. I happened to read the Lets start poem posting. God Almighty, you guys rock, just out of the blue you guys can come up with poems on any given general topics. Intelligent people!. Sitara and Czar, good way of putting the humor , sarcasm and facts all blended. Poonte, Oys ,!!_!! I hear you. Thank you all for making my piece of corner comfortable.
Here is my Do’s. Stick with your own people.
