I have a question on the application of an optical encoder and a pull-force solenoid. I know I could use google, but I would rather talk to someone familiar in the area of Electrical Engineering, and I currently have no one around that I can possibly ask this question to. Any EE's engineers on sajha with working knowledge/experience?

Good guess though not exact. I am in Engineering all right but not exactly Electrical.
I probably won't be able to help you out as I have no practical knowledge on Optical Encoder and electromechanical (pull force) solenoid, other than the working principal (theoretical).
Probably Biruwa could help if you post the question. I could try too, if it is a theoretical one.
