Namaste everyone,

For your pleasure, the newly-formed Kathmandu Film
Archives, in association with the Godavari Alumni
Association and Martin Chautari, presents
its SECOND movie:

R E D R I V E R V A L L E Y

Director: Feng Xiaoning
Language: Chinese with English subtitles.
16 MM Celluloid
Place: The GAA Hall, Thamel.
Date: This coming Friday, the 20th, at 5:30 pm
There may be a nominal fee, NOT exceeding Rs. 30
Tato chiya will be served after the movie.

Special thanks to Anup Subedi (NEFEJ), Deepak Sarkar
(World Cultural Net), Sudarson Karki (Wavetex), Sanjog
Rupakheti (Martin Chautari)and to Mahendra "Honda"
Shakya (president, GAA).

Those of you who are in KTM, come one, come all;
please feel free to forward this to other
interested folks.

For those of who did not know, The KFA is a just-started,
small-but-growing forum to bring good films (broadly
defined) from around the world to be shown in Kathmandu.
It needs your support and goodwill.

Just a short note to inform you all that almost
70 people, including famous architects Kurt Meyer
and Pamela Deuel, showed up at the GAA for the
movie.

Seats were limited, and the overflow guests ended
up sitting on the floor as well as standing up on
the benches.

One of my cyber-friends, Ramesh Sharma from Ohio,
with whom I once had had a series of excellent
debates on soc.culture.nepal (arguably the best
debates I have ever had on SCN) about the
merits of libertarianism, also showed up in
person.

Obviously, there's this great hunger for good
movies in Kathmandu.

Next show: November 10, 2000.

Now the challenge is to make The Kathmandu Film
Archives an independent institution so that
it can run well by new people and WITHOUT
Ashutosh Tiwari. People after all come and
go; it's the institution that remains
and grows more.
