Was really not into Pearl Jam stuffs until recently when I got to know abt him from a friend of mine…So I googled out and uncovered that he was indeed a legend! not only as a singer but as a person he is……. Vedder’s notion on US-- “we may have the biggest weapon but sometimes, smallest brains control them”. And at one point he marked…”You guys want me cos u want me to b leader…you want me to be victim…..you want to ruin my (f**!) soul”…that was rude yet true there! Any interesting facts abt him will be appreciated!

Nepali-girl PJ is great band and so are Eddie vedder, Mike and others. Vedder still drives 1990 Toyota around country. I have been inspired from his way of living from long time. Eddie grew up with 'survival instincts'. His song alive is awesome. By the way, In his own word, it says " you know what i really want right now?, I need to know what people want from me?They want you to be a leader, they want you to be a victim, they want your f>king soul." No worries. Its ok. Lizard king

In my knowledge, there is no more band now. It's solo songs by Ed since 2000? Yeah I've been to his san diego june 03 tour. It was not pearl jam but Ed alone.

The reason they have their band named as Pearl Jam is b'cz Edie's Grandmother name is Pearl and he loved her dearly. As side note, Pearl Jam is influenced by The Who band. But I still am not sure is it PJ or PF?!? Laters

Nepali_Gurl, We had another thread started for Pearl Jam way back. One more fact, atleast that's what I think, Pearl Jam never visualized their songs after 'Jeremy' which was controversially graphic. They have him doing concerts and stuff but never inacting any other music video. For a real Pearl Jam fan, a good dvd to keep in their collection would be : 'Pearl Jam: Single Video Theory.' If you like Pearl Jam, you might also like the following bands: Nine Inch Nails Alice in Chains Smashing Pumpkins Stone Temple Pilots SoundGarden (Led Zep like) etc.

Eddie Vedder demands your attention on each song. Not only because his lyrics are mind blowing, often abstract, but also because he can convey more emotion, angst and spirit in one line, than vocalists from Creed, Nickelback or Staind could deliver in an albums worth of material. “Alive” and “Jeremy” are both examples of the real life hardships in Eddie's life. And “Black” may just be not only the most depressing and powerful song I have ever heard (for some personal reasons too) but possibly the best song I have ever heard. It simply never loses its shine and is the perfect ballad. My personal best has been "betterman" and "Dissident". Stone Temple Pilots..another awesome band.. Waiting on a Sunday afternoon for what I read between the lines, your lies. feelin' like a hand in rusted shame so do you laugh or does it cry? reply? Leavin' on a southern train only yesterday you lied, promises of what I seemed to be only watched the time go by, all of these things you said to me. Interstate Love song..one of my all time fav

Kurt Cobian #1. Eddie veder #2. Both Amazing performers/musicians/songwriters. My favs. Eddie's lyrics do really impress me but all the music and the composition I give Kurt the edge. Yet, they aren't comparable commodities. Both are icons of sub-pop (grunge) and they make each other better by performing similar stuff.s Hats off to both of them.

Right on Zombie. Do you know that Stone Temple Pilots recently released their 'Best Of' album, including such hits as 'Vasoline', 'Down', 'Plush' and ofcourse 'Interstate Love Song.' The album, 'Thank You' was one of the best seller in our local FYE store.

DWI, I try myself knowing everything going around about STP. But I didn't know about their Best albums. "thank You" oh yeah..The reason this album receives five stars is that an avid STP fan or even the casual radio listeners will know almost all of these songs easily. These are big, big radio hits. It's all too often that record companies stretch a band to get a greatest hits package. For example they package 3-4 hits always. I am bit sad to know that Scot Weiland was arrested for DUI after being involved in a car accident when Weiland's BMW hit a parked van. He was ordered by a judge into detox immediately for violating probation.Weiland was ordered back into drug rehab. Plush? won't be surprised , the one that was was biggest single in 1993 (?), Core--biggest LP. Beside all the numbers mentioned , I am fond of 'sour girl' too. Damn, my high school memoirs are back again, how I used to have craze about STP.

Kurt's life brings negative influence in one's life. For no reason, he gave up his life . So why glorify him? :-) That's how I perceive. Be real. All in Jest.

Kurt didn't die for no Reason. How would you understand what he was going through??? If you read all his words written few days prior to his death then you will realize what kind of human he was. His diary notes are available in the stores for some 20 bucks. It's something you should read at least once. I feel for him, and credit him for what he deserved. One thing was for sure. IF there was no Kurt, there would hardly be GRUNGE music today. He is a genius, a music workhorse, a legend and the greatest music personnel of all times. He did what others toook decades to do. MY hats off to him.
