Learn French. And make sure to go use the olympic swimming pool. Costs only a looney or tooney.

Beautiful small city indeed. Take the omni bus that goes on land and water. It's fun.

No, me no from Montreal.

acharya ji...

sure i have a lot of questions..but my first question in
1. where is to stay when I first land in Montreal? I am looking for place where I can stay for one or two first months and which is ofcourse reasonably priced.

2. any suggestions what to do after I land in Montreal? I know that immigration officials will be there guiding us through some processes. But still, is there anything else which those officical don't tell?

3. Contact information on Nepali Communities.

4. How important is it to learn French for computer engineers?

1. Learning French would be a good way to get integrated into the community and to be well-accepted as well, I think it's vital.

2. Landed Immigrants are given a lot of information when they first land in Quebec. Free language classes as well with a stiphend (sp?).

3. Most people who work downtown live downtown. There used to be a few families scattered here and there in the outskirts but if you want a real taste of the city, then live downtown.

4. There is a Nepalese community there but I don't know how you would get in touch with them.

5. There are many anglo-phone companies but I was told that if you show a little bit of interest towards the quebecois language, you should have more avenues for jobs.

6. The rent in downtown montreal are a joke compared to the rent compared to cities in the U.S. You should be able to get a nice studio for under $600 Canadian, an okay one for about $500 and below. I personally would live downtown because all that you heard about downtown Montreal is true!! IT ROCKS! :)

Best of Luck
