Cruelty in the name of the GOd. whethere the animals are sacrificed for ritual purposes or killed for commercial purposed, it's cruelty. So, it really doesn't matter where and how the animals are killed. Only, if the humans could communicate with the animals. People might have different thoughts about it. Mine is just one opening. Having said that I cannot stay away from MO:MO. Jai RanGO

The practice of animal sacrifice is certainly fading away and so are many rituals of past. Changes do not come on a flash and patience will show you over time that things are surely changing. Do you see large Kul puja where thousands of goats were slaughtered? People now do not even slaughter animals on Bada Dasain but buy a kg of meat from the vendors. In terms of cruelty, where and how you kill is same. If you visit slaughterhouses on US or see the process of Halal, you may find that at least hindus do not torture the animal before its last breath. If you want to protect animal rights, you should give up using all animal products otherwise how would you justify yourself for encouraging the practice by using the products. This has been a scoring point for non Hindus to criticize Hindu religion just like caste system. The vedic period was definitely the time when animal sacrifice was routine and that has given birth of personalities like Buddha as well as nonvoilent Hindu practices such Vaishnavi, Pranamies etc. Let people live and let them practice religion the way they want as long as they are not killing human beings. One of my friend from once said there are only three religions in the world ,Judaism,Christianity and Islam because they come from the same root. How do you feel if one says to you only white or blacks are real people and the rest are not. Just my thoughts!

Yes, it is cruel and spiteful to kill any living creature, including plants. But, for the continuation of ecosystem, it must happen. In addition to that, human beings are addicted to eating animals, in spite of having an ample supply of grains, fruits, and milk. Now, talking about animal sacrifice, it does not matter how you kill an animal.. Killing is the same thing either an animal gets killed in slaughter house or in a Kali's temple. Violence is a crime for which you get punished or get arrested. But, from the evolution of living creature, it has been the mores that we eat meat... Every major culture...every major religion allows you to eat meat, but the western culture think sacrificing animal according to the religion is brutal and therefor we are laid the blame on. But they forgot to realize that they are the one who cannot eat any meals without meat from slaughter house.
