PizzaGuy...
I would say God is nothing but gives you confidence and power. Its a power that would never make you feel lonely. Thas what idea I have about the God. People often say, dont worry GOD will take care of you. It is true. When you are extremely tired and frustrated in life, and have none around you, the best thing you do is pray to god. That makes you feel you are not alone. I would also say, all Gods are same, Hindu devi devtas, Jesus, Allah, Buddha, Mahavira and many others. Its just a name given to a divine power.

Last but not the least, I always try to remember this sloka from Geeta. "Karmanye Wadhikaraste Ma Falesu Kadachana. Ma Karma Fal Heturbhurma, Te Sangostwakarmani". Meaning, do not worry about the results, do your assignments, you will get the results accordingly.

Hope that would help...

Last night I felt lied and betrayed by a missionary. Well! I believe I can call him missionary since his intention was to persuade me towards Christianity.

There was a small concert in my college. It was a local band with nice songs, at least one particular song I liked. So, I bought their CD and talked with the band members. They were cool! During our chitchat we ended up talking about religion. I told one of the band members that I'm a spiritual Hindu and do not intend to change it. Meanwhile, I'm also interested in knowing about other religions, including Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Taoism...

We ended up talking about beliefs of different religions and concepts of God. I told him about Hindu and vise versa. IT was all good. One thing that he told me grabbed my attention was the fact he told me about how Jebus/Jesus represents himself as a leader. According to that guy, Jebus said in the bible," Follow my path to the gateway of heaven. IF you don't follow my path you will not get to heaven"

I interpreted that statement as: "I am your leader! Follow the leader!! My way or the highway!!!"

I don't know much about the religion or any other but isn’t that a bit politically/religiously incorrect? Doesn't that single statement bring Christianity to the level of other cults with slogans "The Leader is great; Follow the leader…. Blah…blah…blah…"

I told him how I interpreted the above statement and the at the end of the conversation he presented his punch line by saying, “I hope you will see the light. God will help you make your decision.”
I was like -- Yeah sure whatever dude.

[There was more in the conversation including me telling him that nobody knows if jebus is black/woman or something else but he is idolized and a white person… And the fact that our Hindu religion is ancient. Other religions including Buddhism, Islam, Christainity… have an origin point in time but Hinduism doesn’t have an origin point. He’s been around forever and it go on forever…. Like a circle without a beginning or an end…]

This morning I found out that the band that performed last night was a Christian band. After knowing that I felt lied to and betrayed. That dude didn’t tell me that he is a member of a Christian band. I thought that I involved in a quality discussion about religion and not a persuasive conversation with him trying to persuade me to lean towards Christianity. If I knew that I might have taken different position in the conversation. I might have told him what I told to those missionaries that showed up on my door (separated story stored in kurakani archive).

Anyway, I just wanted to get that out of my mind and thought it would be worth posting in this thread. I apologize if I bored or offended any reader by writing about my encounter. I believe in freedom of speech in sajha and I just thought experience was interesting enough to share with fellow sajhaites.

Thanks,
U-day

Footnote: I, the writer of this piece, is a born Hindu and is determined to die a Hindu. I am just trying to lean towards spiritual aspect the religion. I believe in freedom of religion. I am not shopping around for a religion to follow; I was/am just curious other religion differs from Hindu. If you doubt my purpose in the thread, please read my previous comments in other threads.

Pizzaguy,
I have it on good authority that God plays cards on Saturday afternoons. Due to the nature and size of the bets, along with an uncanny ability to forecast outcomes, God was declared persona non grata at both the Las Vegas and Atlantic City gaming tables. Personnel there were advised to be watchful for all the known guises used by the subject, failure to do so would result in croupiers hearing the dreaded two words “You’re Fired.”

It is also said that sightings were made at the roulette tables of Monte Carlo and other locations along the Cote D’Azure’s pleasure halls. Macao too. Meanwhile, Soaltee’s loaded dice were sited as the reason for the present imbroglio in Nepal. Supposedly as Divine payback.

Local mythology repeated for many weeks of recent in the isle of Bali is that a certain Celestial being is due to frolic in the waves there later this summer. If sightings of a Heavenly Body leads you further in your search for Nirvana, that may be the place to be.

Despite some bad calls a few years ago that almost resulted in systemic failure due to Long Term Capital’s $ 1.2 trillion leveraged arbitrage nearly gone awry, Alan Greenspan has steadily become a favoured candidate for canonization (along with Guliani). Which may lead one to wonder: does God play poker with him? Thus, the Federal Reserve may be one possible location to direct your inquiry.

As of late, the rumour mills at the Vatican have been in high gear. Close aides at the highest level, while tight lipped, have set adrift hints among the faithful that the upper echelon of Republican Protestants at the White House are considering defecting en masse to Catholicism. Hush hush negotiations are said to be underway about a possible plea deal for the entire group where they recant their heresy, admit no wrong doing but pay a hefty fine. (Along the lines of Elliot Spitzer’s of recent memory the billion dollar plus fine of Wall Street that paid but admitted no wrong doing.)

So what’s this got to do with God ? Him’s the feller that’s being negotiated as the underwriter for the deal, but leaked memos indicate Heaven Inc. has baulked at the lengthy list of “not guilty” items. It is whispered that the only acceptable point so far has been that Saddam was to be excluded from the list, directly resulting from his lack of deodorant use. (A Stinker, as they say in The Trade.)

And if you make some headway in contacting the Almighty, do share that Divine URL with us please. And during your conversations with The Maker, please, please confirm for us the rumour that Heaven uses Windows, which may explain the mystery of the Universe’s chaos.

Good luck in your quest.

Being an occasional surfer these days could not resist responding to this one, tough.

Hinduism is very open. It accepts other religions, faiths and beliefs, even tough some of them differ very steeply. that is why conversion is unheard of in Hinduism. How can "my" almighty be different than the almighty of others?

Czar this is for you. The URL for contacting is iii.look inside.yourself.com the URL does not start with a www as it starts with an I [a seperate domain name space is being created just for this purpose :-)]. Nirvana is not in Bali you have to go to the above URL. God is there smiling and waiting for people to find the URL. Once you type the URL correctly bingo the webpage loads with a flash. :-)

To all others- God is within each one of us. We do not need to search him in heaven, Bali or other location. God is closer to us than we think, God loves us more than we think he does, God is always there for us and wants us to see that he is there. We also blame God for tragedies. mis-fortune and ills of life but God is above and beyond mis-fortunes, life, death etc. The only way to know God is to know yourself because God is there with us, knowing yourself getting to know God. How do you find/know yourself? Lets leave the question unanswered as the means and meaning is different for each one of us, we have do our own soul searching in our own way our own to find the truth. Once we know than our interpretations become like ether that has no limitations.

Tick,
Thank you most kindly. That URL will come in handy for certain folks who are in dire Need of Tech Support.

There is word in the street that the executives of Atkins Diet, Bill Gates, Kobe Bryant former Spanish premier Aznar, the board of Haliburton, Martha Stewart, and Lalloo Prasad Yadav have of recent expressed an intent to move to North Dakota and hence cede from the planet entirely. OPEC, the KTM BMW dealer, assorted Chinese umbrella manufacturers, diamond jewelers, and livestock feed makers of Bihar are sponsors of the venture or so it is whispered. RA was the chosen airline, but the strong possibility of leaving the party stranded has forced them to use Aeroflot.

Meanwhile, I am sure your assistance will be useful to some. Thanks again.
