. an interesting news piece from Pakistan made me laugh real hard..... bunch of losers ;) ********************** - www.gorkhapatra.org.np Men barred from watching women swimming By Our Correspondent ISLAMBAD, APRIL 1: Men have been prohibited in watching the swimming event for women at the 9th SAF Games raising many eyebrows among the journalists of different hues. The organisers have barred men from visiting the pool situated inside the Pakistan Sports Complex when the swimming events for women are held. Swimming, like athletics, table-tennis, football is the mandatory game that must feature in the South Asia’s biennial sports meet. The girls from Pakistan, which adheres to the strict Islamic laws, are also taking part in the swimming event probably spurring the host to put a ban on men’s visit to the pool. Under the rule, the male coaches of the women teams have also been barred to accompany the women team members while the event is held. “This had been decided two years ago at a meeting of the South Asian Sports Federation,” said the Syed Arif Hasan, chairman of the 9th SAF Organising Committee. Hasan, though, was clueless when asked about the problem of the women teams having male coaches. The rule has directly affected the Nepal women because they too have male coaches. Four Nepali girls are participating in the event. ***************************** |
