***NOTE*** - I was never a hardcore rockets fan, until YAO arrived. I just used to visit compaq center (now toyota center) once in a blue moon just fo fun.. and guess what i used to cheer for philly's or any other team that plays against houston. And people aorund meh always ended up with that dirty look. u unfaithful houstonian. :=) .. okie that was back then but its now. Okie!!! I think officials are taking grant of yao's nature. I might feel that way being the diehard fan of the houston team or.. is it really that officials are being unfair with this giant. I have watch quite lots of nba games. Seen Shaq play, seen kobe playes.. n what i have seen is.. everytime these kinda people ( refering to shaq , kobe, garnett, TD, malone etc) stop, jump n try to shoot. n there they missed it, there is an offcials with a whistle, foul called.. though there is no opposition in radius of 5 ft. and that really bothers meh.. but that don't happen with YAO.. i think not just yao, but the all the nba players should deserve the same respect as the officials give to others.. and sumtime i laugh my arse off, when i see sum nba player who has never stepped in floor before, first time enters to play against shaq.. shaq uses all his power.. fouls him.. the poor chap is fallen sumwhere down the court.. n the chap gets no call........... neways.. there are just sum of my thoughts.. about nba officials.. i might be wrong at sum point.. but the most important part is.. I AM RIGHT AT SOME POINT>>>> SO ANY THOUGHT>>>>>>>>>>>> RUSTY, AX, DWI......... n rest of the nba fan crew yb

Yo YB, Yes, I think being a "superstar" definitely helps to get those calls. Esp on the offensive end of the floor when you get the ball inside...even the slightest of contact can land a player free throws..I mean..in a way for the game its alright...I guess..But I know what you mean..It has to be consistent with everybody!! YAO and THE ROCKETS: I have also been a great fan of Yao since he entered the NBA. His extraordinary skills for a big man and great attitude was something I really appreciated. If anyone remembers..like in his first year...Shaq made fun of him about his chinese and then in response he invited Shaq for dinner..I mean this guy is a great global marketing tool and role model for NBA. Now that he has entered second year I still don't understand why YAO doesnt get BIG CHUNK of offense...By this time..the offense should revolve around YAO not Stevie Francis and Cuttino Mobley. Francis is having the worst season of his career..he is shooting below 40% and they just seem to be ball hoggers...I dont think rockets will get anywhere without YAO being the man esp when he is shooting above 55% for the season. Having said that YAO also needs to be aggresive..I mean few weeks back Amare dunked on him and he dint even seem to care..its good that Francis stood up for him..but still he has to have EMOTIONS..and be extremly physical to lesser and weaker opponents...if he can play SHAQ that well..I think he is as good as it gets.

Aggresiveness is one thing that YAO apparently lacks. He does make his claims but the officials hardly acknowledge them. Maybe it's his language or simply the RACIST heritage that's underlying in the hearts of the officials that occasionally becomes so visible. By the way SHAQ, KG and others are established players and already legends. YAO is almost there if not yet there. So, it takes time before he gets the respects from the officials. I do feel for the ROOKies and unproven athletes out there. THe odds are always agsint them. IN yesterday's match-Lakers against SPurs- Duncan put FIsher on the floor and none seem to see it. In another game KINGS against-Rockets Stojakovic was pushing the less recognized player with his hands while dribbling the ball.. and the officials apparently failed to call despite the huge noise from the crowd. Talking of YAO- I guess he is the coolest of all. The most impressive thing about him is that he CREDITS his teammates for all of his achievement in NBA. But One shouldn't forget that he is the former #1 draft and the proven PLAYEr in CHINA. Trsut me guys it won't take long before YAO earns the respect he deserves. GO nBa go. GO YAO go. GO Celtics go. GO KINGs go. Jai NEPAL

come on guys. This is not even a topic to discuss about. You need a repect??? 2 years in a league won't do it. Larry did not get it, the greatest NBA player Michael jordan did not get it, so did not Shaq and who is YAO? He bettter work out more and add few lbs and we will be hearing about him for long time. For now he is just another Shawn Bradley who moves around well. Having said that Yao is the next big thing in NBA.....

AX bro, the question is not whether he'll earn respect or not, but whether the officials are ready to officiate the game BY THE RULES~ I can understand where YB is coming from. It is pretty apparent that NBA referees do have that tendency to call fouls on less recognized players more. Maybe Yao should run over one of those officials and be level :). Perhaps, he'll get the CALLS if not respect.

YB, I can understand what you saying. He will probably earn more respect in near future. They say, it takes about 3 years for a Non-English speaking NBA players to adjust into this environment, in which they are comfortable enough to play mental as well as physical game. Look at Dirk Noizkti or Peja, who directly came from their country... They didn't become super stars until their third year of NBA. Yes, there's always visible or invisible discrimination in this field.. Yao's English might be improving on daily basis, I guess. Hopefully, he can argue with officials in fluent English in near future. However, I dispute that his caliber can reach at the level of Shaq or any other dominated center in NBA history. He's too tall for that:-)
