Wonder Why US want nepali to fight with nepali by proving sophisticated equipment for killing??
In my opinion, they should be helping to initiate peace process by talk, which is the only solution.

Nepal been a place that dissidents/revolutionaries from surrounding nations have sought refuge in and used as launching ground for their covert operations... the Nagas, Sheiks, Kashmiris, even Tamil Tigers supposedly.

Unlike what the maoist chump in Bryant's article says about Osama not being their concern and that the insurgency in Nepal is not connected to anything else outside, the reality is that it is connected and integrally so. How otherwise do the villagers in Rukum have the training and access to weapons? Maybe it is not al qaeda yet, but it is not news that Nepal's maoist movement has benefitted from the expertise of ex-IRA fighters.

There is a terrorist industry in place today that crosses national borders, cultures and ideologies that makes possible the Maoists, the shining path, the Tamil Tigers or the Muslim speratists in Mindano... pretty much anyone can pay a buck, buy a gun, claim revolution and justify terrorism in the name of "The people."

Bryant says, "there is a real concern that Washington is nourishing the belief that this war is winnable: that it runs the risk of prolonging the conflict rather than speeding its end." Speeding the end of the conflict is fine and dandy, but what is that end? A Maoist state?!

If thats the case, I for one would say ending the conflict alone is NOT enough.

A military solution alone is obviously not the answer, but we know that peace talks won't work till the Maoists are serious about talking. And seems to me they are not yet ready to talk in earnest. So, now the soldiers will have the equipment to protect themselves and other citizens.

But isn't this kinda old news anyhow? Didn't the US decide to give the 20mil to nepal quite a while back?

If Maoists say that "Osama is the creation of US and he is of no concern to Maoists in Nepal".. then they are talking nonsense. Think about this:

where was Baburam educated? In a missionary school located in the hills of Nepal but run by a white guy. Did he pay from his pocket to do B Arch in Delhi? No. Did he pay from his pocket for phd in India? No. So can we say he is created by White people or Indian People? If so, then he should be of no concern to we Nepalese.

Similarly, Prachanda... created by former USSR. Why should he be of any concern to we Nepalese.

Why on earth should we concern a damn about the philosophy borrowed from other countries like USSR and China under which the Maoists are waging war. That's terrorism!!!
