‘Uncertainty’ is the word that pops up on my mind when I think about my beloved country. We are not sure about our future. We are not sure about our lives. There is no sense of security in the country. There is no tranquility in the nation. Even the capital itself is not free from riots. Strikes and ‘Bandh’ has become something really common part of the country. Street Demonstration to some Nepalese has become a habit. Number of death toll is rising due to the on going battle between anti-monarchist (Maoist) and pro-monarchist (government). News about brutal killings done by Maoist is no more a new thing to us. The hearing about Royal Nepal Army (RNA) misusing their power on general people is also common , even though government denies it to some extend. The line which separates Maoist and RNA is becoming thinner and thinner everyday. With all this I wonder where is Nepal heading?
With all this happening between RNA and Maoist and the suffering that Nepalese are going through only increases the fear of Nepal rapidly moving towards failed state syndrome. Nepal is almost at the verge of becoming next Cambodia during the time of Khmer Rouge.
The situation of Nepal is not as worse as it was in Cambodia back in mid 70’s but again the situation is getting worse day by day. Are we really heading towards becoming next Cambodia? Yes…no…maybe? I am not sure about it…there goes another vagueness about my country. If we are heading towards being Khmer Rouge’s Cambodia, can it be stopped? Yes…no….maybe? Are those so called political leaders realizing where they are pushing Nepal into? Yes….no….maybe? Will the situation improve before it is too late? Yes…no…maybe? Uncertainty, yeah this is what come to my mind when I think about my Nepal. Shall I say My Nepal, My Pride? With all this happening in the country I am not even sure if I want to say “MY Nepal, My Pride”(there goes another uncertainty)
