A man, who along with four brothers, gang raped two teenaged girls in a Sydney home has committed suicide in jail while awaiting sentence. A Corrective Services spokesman said the man, who can only be referred to as RS, was found hanging in his prison cell at Long Bay metropolitan medical transit centre at 8am (AEST) yesterday. The 26-year-old had been in the cell on his own and was found by a prisoner doing the daily milk run. The prisoner alerted authorities. The spokesman said there had been no suggestion RS was a suicide risk. RS had pleaded not guilty to gang raping the two girls in the home of his friends, who are brothers, at Ashfield in Sydney's inner-west on July 28, 2002. But a NSW Supreme Court jury late last year found RS and the four brothers, now aged between 17 and 26, guilty of pack-raping the girls. During sentencing submissions RS said he had not told his parents in Nepal that he was in jail or that he had been charged with gang rape. The other four men will be sentenced next Thursday. A mandatory coronial inquest will be held into RS's death.

hi there Sydneaites, sorry to hear about the news. Looks like Ashfield is the place of happenings. Fill us in with the details of the incident. I wonder if RS was a culprit? What about the four brothers? Where they all Nepalese? I recall another incident that got a close friend of mine into jail. This happend in 1995 when there was this incident of Banglaedesh bhai (powerful minister's son aa rai) gettin killed in front of BK in King's Cross. Do you guys know anything about em (no names please.) I used to work at the same GPT tower with em. I wanted to know if he is doing okay. Thanks to Sydneywasi for sharing the news. May peace Prevail! I really don't know what happened but what I have heard from people is, RS went to his friends place (Four Pakistani brother's house) in Ashfield. All of them were drunk including the two under aged girls who were raped. One of the raped girls, happened to be one of the Pakistani's girlfriend. The eldest among the Pakistani brothers threatened the girls saying he will kill them if they don't let others guys to have sex with them. RS, who was already intoxicated and unconscious at that moment, was told by his friends to go and have sex with the girls. This is how he got involved. Another thing is that RS's parents have no idea about his whereabouts. Police are trying to contact his parents. The Nepali who accidently killed the Bengali is still in jail. We all hear that he is doing okay.

Intoxicated or not, if he really raped the girls, he is guilty and deserved to serve in prison, instead he chose to die. I do sympathize with his parents, but why should anyone feel bad for him? I assume the Paki guys didn't put a gun on his head and forced him to rape the girls. If alcohol/drugs make him lose all his senses, he shouldn't have taken it in the first place.

The Newspaper quoted "All defendants denied the charges and pleaded "cultural differences" as mitigation for their crimes when they were found guilty two years ago. Two of the offenders were aged 15 and 17 at the time of the rape. RS was 25. None of the rapists can be identified by more than initials because two were minors. The men threatened two girls with knives and bullets during the attack at a house in the inner-west Sydney suburb of Ashfield on July 28, 2002. One was told the other had been killed because she had resisted her attackers. Rejecting the appeal case of the three brothers last month, Justice Brian Sully said a strong message needed to be sent to men that such crimes would not be tolerated. "(It) has to be established once and for all that culture or no culture, wherever he came from, however, old you are, this cannot be tolerated in modern society, " he said." I will not hang around with the 15 and 17 years old if i am 25. even if i hang around with them i will try to be a good role model for them. I think it is RS's stupidity which led to what he has done. The only person here to be blamed is he himself. Very sad story though. RIP

This proves how dignified a nepali is when its time one is under such situation as losing his/her face. It was a moronic idea to say this victim a loner and a gajadiya as this ashish moro put it. I would say he is just a fall guy. What I heard was that RS was lured to this uncivil act. A straight man would not run away when he had every chance to satisfy his sexual thing, his libido or his lust. What happened to him was because of his poor luck. He got in a situation when a horny man neglects to put on a condom while screwing a whore. This is the same situation as an aids victim committing a suicide to save his face. If he were a real rapist, he wouldn’t commit a suicide. The judge who came up with this verdict must have had beef balls and sausages for his breakfast that morning. I’m just wondering if he was the same guy who gave me a lift back to Ashfield from Kingscross back in the winter of 99. Anyways, whoever he is, I request god for his in discriminated after death affairs up in heaven. May god put a curse on everyone whos involved in his demise. And may Bhagwan bestow this guy’s family all strength to overcome this sad news.
