>Country You are at : US

Returning back ? : No (being honest)

Reason : My hairs would have turned grey to be in the position I am right now.(My living standard is like that of average Nepali living in US).

Whats yours?
Frankie Green Posted on 23-Apr-04 08:30 AM

Country I am at: United States

Returning Back? : NO

Reason(s): I could have never achieved whatever I have so far over here if I were in Nepal. I did struggle financially when I was in School but after I graduated there is nothing I should be complaining about. I have already achieved many of my dreams in the last 2 years which would have taken a life time if I were in Nepal. Maybe my living standard is a little higher than average Nepalis in the US(not being arrogant) but I simply do not have that vigor and intensity to go back and start from the scratch. With political situation next to hopeless back home I do not see many of Nepalis going back either unless they really feel for Nepal and thier families. I guess I am too selfish in that sense. But I am happy where I am right now and I think that is what most important to me.
GIJane Posted on 23-Apr-04 08:45 AM

country living in right now: US
Going back? Are you freaking kidding me??

Reason: money, freedom (in every aspect of living), no relatives, good friends (i have some in nepal too), good restaurants...
OU812 Posted on 23-Apr-04 09:14 AM

Country I am at: UK

Going back to Nepal? Yes. Not now but definately later in life.

Reason: Don't like the idea of ending up in an old age home . If worst comes to worst , end up rickety, old and pennyless on the streets of London, it would be better to retire in a small cottage over looking plains of Sunsari. Would like my ashes flow down Koshi river. Contribute to the alluvial soil of Nepal. Back to circle of life

Dust to Dust,
Ashes to Ashes.
Gotta go home to roost.

Returning back ? : want to ASAP (being honest)

Reason : to see downed machindra naath

Casey00 Posted on 26-Apr-04 08:54 AM

from where?-- N-America

Returning back: Going back when I am 30( no lies), Being born in Nepal if I don't happen to go back and contribute to some sort then I am sure after my death my soul won't rest in peace. People bicker about the situation and all but I am person who always saw glass half full so I hope the situation will improve in coming years. Even if it doesn't that won't hold me back to do my thing. I owe motherland and gotta her pay her back.

Adios.

P.S Lot of people who dont want to go back complain how their life could be in danger and stuffs like that. But again how selfish is that when your brothers and sisters are dying in Nepal..and you arer running away. But again this applies to people who call themselves Nepali.
dananah Posted on 26-Apr-04 09:20 AM

Country You are at : OZ

Returning back ? : Yes...(one day in the not so distance future)

Reason : Born nepali...so definetly have to experience being one too in our own beloved country...:D (hopefully ituation will be a lot better then..let there be peace..and a better standard of living..and better mentality too..;)..)
ProudNepali Posted on 26-Apr-04 03:25 PM

Returning back: Hell Yeah...Not decided when.. time will surely tell.

REasons: This is no brainer. THough many of us will find good enough reasons to stay here (spend the rest of their lives here), I have my own valid reasons and lots of optimisims behind my thoughtts. HEy, that's my COuntry: JANMA VUMI. "There's no place like home" they say here in US. so I better agree with them. ANd..... hell My family...mom/dad/brothers and sisters-----hundreds of relatives and wellwishers---- and 100s of friends.. THe place I were brought up.. I went to school. I grew up. Thaey are all there. If I consider of having a better life here in US.. I will be selfish to say that. People might suggest of bringing the whole family members here, once I am capable of. yet... again what about patroitism.
And what about the future of Nepal if we all who were supposed to be more educated than our forefathers think about settling in foreign lands.
Hell no.. I gotta go. Political situations: I am expecting them to get better. Not sure when but surely it will.

Jai Nepal
TitoMitho Posted on 26-Apr-04 03:34 PM

Country you are at: US

Returning back: Yes and no.

Reason: I don't see why you can't have it both ways. I think this increasingly integrated world needs people who can go back and forth, people who can connect and communicated with both worlds. That's where I see myself.

My home is where I am, not where I was born!

Where will I retire? Maybe I should ask Trikal Maharaj!
honeybuzz Posted on 26-Apr-04 06:01 PM
