Nepal gifts two gharials to Bhutan KOL Report KATHMANDU, Apr 23 - Nepal government is preparing to shift two reptile gharials from Royal Chitwan National Park to their new home in Bhutan very soon. A press release issued Friday by Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation under Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation said, Secretary Chandi Prasad Shrestha will hand over the gahrial crocodiles as gift to his counterpart Dasho Sangay Thinlay, Secretary at Ministry of Agriculture of the Royal Government of Bhutan amid a function on 26 April in Kathmandu. The statement further says gharial is endangered wildlife specie found in the major river systems of Nepal. The fresh water reptiles bound for Bhutan were bred and reared at Kashara Gharial Breeding Centre of Royal Chitwan Natioanal Park. (hbt)
