I am planning to land on Kathmandu on May 18th along with my mother and infant child. I just found out that it is bandha that day. I am worried about how would I be able to go home from Airport. I live in Balaju therefore, walking is not an option (think about my 60+ mom and 1 year old son). Because of vacation here on USA and restrictions on my ticket, changing arrival date costs me lot of money and time and I don't even know if that is even possible. Will there be some kind of transportation to and from airport? How about moving from center city to suberbs? I will manage somehow but I am really worried about my parent and kids. Have any of you experienced such a situation? Please share your thoughts and ideas of getting home safely on Bandha day. Thanks,

Are you sure they run on Bandha Days? What kind of shuttles are they? Run by government or by individuals (like taxi)? What make them run on Bandha day? won't they get stones if they operate? just curious how come some shuttles run and some won't? Thanks for your input.

maple tree finding a transport depends on the seriousness of the bandh,if there is violence then it may be hard to find a cab or tempo, but if its the normal type bandhs, then yes there will invariably be some tempo's or taxi and local buses plying on the streets. or u can ask someone who has a bike to give u a ride home...... or if the above are not possible then simply walk to the nearest hotel, there are many now in that part of the city
