From a newsgroup called nepalwatch A 12-minute film called Jhalak (Glimpse) about the demonstrations and violence in Kathmandu in April is now available for free download from the following website: The film is very graphic and some viewers have been quite shocked by the overt violence which the film makers have bravely documented. The download is 118 MB which takes a good 10 minutes even on a fast broadband connection. The downloaded file will be entitled: avseq01.dat On a Mac, the file is most easily played through QuickTime. The best way to view it is to open QuickTime player, and then choose FILE -> OPEN and locate the file. The source file is a muxed MPEG 1. QuickTime can be freely downloaded from Apple from: On a PC, I have found that the easiest way to get the file to play is to change the file suffix from .dat to .mpg, and then to open the file through Real Player.
