It was a lewd talk , in totality, somewhat reminiscent of Deep's realistic fictions, but I have sanitized the talk to make it presentable.I hope it's funny. At least, it is trendy, given the recent subjects of so many other recent Sajha threads. Let's dive in .

--

Four boys, including your Sajha representative, were sitting in a bar after an exhausted bike ride in the middle swathe of Chitwan. It was a scorching day, as we could see mirage ahead of us while driving.

As we sat down, wiping out our sweats with overly used restaurant towel, Mr A broke the ice. "Why?" He said, "Why am I 25 and still single."

Mr B jumped in. He said, "Look at the mirror. Look at your incorrigible boorishness. Women like good smell of civil people, not the odor of uncouth like you."

Mr A replied, " Saalaa.." He was offended. Mr B who always had to be full of himself giggled.

"Well, Mr B. What the hell do you mean by smell? OK, you consider yourself such a great Don Quixote. Tell me, how a woman smell? Tell us how a good woman smell?" I asked, finally, unsettled by Mr B's presumption.

"Good woman smells like rose". He said.

Mr D, an erudite one, had no place for such emotional metaphor. He replied, " well, they don't. They don't smell like rose. You probably thought of so when you met a girl, but it was all just metaphor."

A woman has to smell like somethingelse. We agreed. It is probably an order of human flesh. But how do you characterize that? It can smell like anything. It can smell like Channel. It can smell like a mud. It can smell like Himalayan flower.Depending upon how she views things like cosmetics, aesthetics, etc.

Mr D rhapsodized. He said , " A good woman smells confidence. Confidence means confidence . All girls seek respect, but her man is going to respect her if he knows that after his death this girl will stand up and raise the kids, that this girl won't cry and beg with anyone for the care of the kids."

This was way too philosophic. We agreed and disagreed. It didn't penetrate into a lot of people's mind either.

Finally, Mr A, had a unanimously agreed upon reply: " A good woman smells like a, like a , trophy. She smells like a trophy, you know. A sense of victory. You grab her, and you know you are having a trophy. You are having a quarry. You are having something that is coveted by others. Good women, universally, smell like a prize."

No doubt some communities in Africa consider it an insult if a man finds his wife have showred before love making.
By the way, the resturant was it Shivaghat for macha, santichowk for tas, or Kumar dais pasal for momo.
Just curious hai

Fupu ko pasal ko sekuwa yad ayo resturant, Chitwan bike smjhera.

kalekrishna:

It was Bhetghat for naashtaa (I am sure you understand the italicized slang of Chitwan:-)

Shantichouk for Taas is very popular, though. I admit.

very interesting account Biswo ji on scent of women. Heres my account on scent of women i.e. pheromones and its effect on men as dogs.

We a group of 5 young lads were on a trip to Royal Chitwan National park. It was a winter of 199X after our S.L.C exams. Having never experienced this scent of women-experience, all of us were excited of a hope that we’d come across something unexpected in this getaway away from home. None of us had gone out of the valley without an escort before.

We arrived at Chitwan, after a detour up to pokhara on the route. Chitwan was our final destination and luck wasn’t yet on our side. We were still hopeful we’d come across something adventurous and memorable in Chitwan. We hired a jeep and a young driver for a safari drive. This young driver said that he would take us to Sauraha later at night, which lies in the middle of the national park. He promised to take us to a nach gan festival in a tharu village followed by a dinner of monkey’s meat and turtle soup. If luck favours, you’ll get to pick a local girl or two, he added.

Later in the evening, we hit off on a 2 hour-long bumpy ride to Sauraha. It was a small village with a cluster of houses made of hay. We booked a place of stay in a small hotel. Unfortunately, there wasn’t anything going on. No nach gan no nothing- it was more like a ghost town. The ambience was stark dark and we could hear wolves howling, and rhinos making love in a distant. Since there was nothing outside, we settled inside the hotel’s rooftop restaurant. We ordered local chyang and started practising our broken English with two tourists next to our table.

Just as the local chyang had its tickling effect on us, a cry of a woman attracted our attention. The woman was shouting for help with a baby on her hip. Her house was on fire. A huge ball of fire rose above the sky and it was spreading like a wildfire all over the village. Soon there came a score of young men and women. And they were pouring buckets of water on fire. We also ran down to the scene and helped them put off the fire.

Later, we heard rumours that the woman had extramarital affairs with a doctor in the village. The doctor was a govt appointed employee- an MBBS graduate from India. After her husband found out about her relationship, he tried to set afire his own house and burn his wife alive to save his face.

This scent of women is such thing that can prompt a man burn his house, ruin a family and can even make one go crazy at times. Dangerous! It is sort of a prized possession as biwo ji put it- a trophy. After this incident, we never talked about women for a year.

Biswo Ji,
upon reading your recent creation, the thoughts that I gather together, tells me that you are either looking for scent of a woman or you already have one. The latter is a mere personal question which on second thoughts I refrain from elaborating any further.

aa by the way, if you are in search of that perfect scent of a woman, maybe Sajha is a cool place to make your intentions clear.

Besides I heard that you are a famous Sajhaite aa rai. Like lots of people look forward to you and your thoughts. Any female Sajha patron would consider you kya!!!

why not make it a little romantic?

kalebhutji,

Fabulous description. I was sort of surprised that you were lured bythe prospect of monkey's meat. Personally, I don't think anyone eats monkey in Nepal. Monkeys look so much like men. On the other hand, I know Cantonese are famous for eating monkeys.

I once worked at Sauraha for a very brief period and I remember hiring a local music 'band' to entertain the tourists in the night. The 'band' used to do stick dance and other native Tharu dances, and was entirely composed of Tharus.

Going back to the scent, I was so convinced it smelled like trophy that I remember it for so long! Even now, a lot of times , when I see observe couples, I feel the men really treat women as trophy. It is more of victor-trophy relation (as opposed to victor-loser relation).

Rajeev:

Sometimes you really talk nonsense, man! :-)
NK Posted on 06-May-04 10:06 AM

Biswo (hi there!),

I had heard of a "trophy wife" just like I have heard of a "trophy house." Do you notice the word "trophy?" What does it tell you? Would I sound too much of a feminist [you know those bra burning, lipstick dicarding type;)] if I tell you and your friends to stop objectifying women?? "A woman should smell like a trophy"??? When will men stop looking at a woman like a piece of meat and start to treat and think of her as equal. Also read the second post. So a woman had an affair. What does a man do? He tries to *Kill his wife* *with* his child! And, the poster blames who? Of course the woman! "Prized Possession" indeed!! What a shame.

Biswo Posted on 06-May-04 10:23 AM

NK,

Oops.

Yes, it is probably wrong to view that way.

My question is not to analyze wrong/rightness of the view. My question was just to ask how men feel. It is just a reality question. Men are attracted towards women: so what is the source of that attraction? How men view others? What is the 'scent' of something that attracts men?

Again, I didn't mean to offend anyone. It is just a recollection regarding how a low tier bunch theorized something that remained in my mind for so long.

Again, tks for cautioning me:-)

kalebhut Posted on 06-May-04 11:06 AM

Thanks biswo ji- actually that’s what our young driver said and lured us into the jungle. Monkey’s meat and tharu chicks. We didn’t get to try any piece of meat anyways. Monkeys do like men bro, after all, they are the predecessors of men.
And Cantonese eating monkeys- its no surprise. They eat snakes eggs, frog fries, ostrich wings, dogs’ testicles too hehe and what not. They believe such exotic diets are sources of aphrodisiacs.

Nk ji- I didn’t blame the woman. Actually, that was only a work of fiction inspired by a factual event some years before. I just mean to say that men go crazy at this scent of women sometimes. What would you do when you found another man screwing your wife or your beloved? just a question-i know there are some folks who'd just walk away if they found this kind of ...
no pun intended..and relax

Interesting topic Biswo, I never believed on scent of women before it happened in my own life.
Anyway here is the story. My story doesn't have any philosophical background or genius opinion. Its just an experience thing. But I would like to share.
I met this girl when I was 19, can you believe I was still virgin till 19. Since the first day I met her, I always dream about her, dream about beign with her.But dream is dream it doesn't come true. Time went on, I moved on my life.Forgot about her. After 3 years i met her again, actually she came to see me as a freind. But by that time she was already with another guy.So was I. I was not young virigin enthusiastic kid as I used to be. We kept on being freind.Go out for drink together with her boyfreind and my girlfreind.Things went on this way till I broke up with my girl freind and her boy freind left her.
Here is the turning point on our life.It seems that BRAHMA, BISHUNU and MAHESHWOR all blessing me.Finally I am with one I always dreamt to be.Time went by so quickly, one year passed without being noticed. Now she has to leave and go back to her country. i have to continue my life.If I was in same position as I am today, I could have purposed her to marry me but it was time when I was not sure about what i am doing in my life.
So the best option at that time was -LET IT BE.She left and we never knew when will we meet again. I had to move on in my life.So past is past, I start forgetting her.
Last year, while I was passing through Frankfurt airport, I could sense very familiar scent.Being honest with you all, a my part of body was more sensitive than I was.It was completely iresistable. I kept on searching where it is coming from. Basically I kept on walking smelling this scent and end up in duty free perfume store. Here it was, a girl was trying this perfume that my x-girl used to use. For a moment I felt like grabbing her, huggin her and kissing her. Of course it didn't happen. But I still keep on wondering how strong is scent of WOMEN in men's life.

Good luck to everybody.

FJ

FJ,

Tks for the contribution. Yours was literally a scent! :-)
nsshrestha Posted on 06-May-04 09:52 PM

Biswo,

We were at a party talking - an unmarried, just married and a long been married.
Wife of the long been married came and said - can you come with me for a while?
The long been married replied - can you not see that I am talking?
Pissed, the wife of the long been married left.
The unmarried uttered - See, this is the difference between a married man and us, If a woman has a called me, I would have jumped a long ago. I just laughed.

And the scent of woman remain wafted.:0)
Biswo Posted on 07-May-04 12:34 AM

nsshresthaji:

I can say one thing: you would have left had you been the 'married man'asked .:-)

Still couldn't solve THAT riddle, sounds like hell lot of work, man. Still trying, though.:-) I am sure it was not 7->74.
DC Girl Posted on 07-May-04 01:29 AM

whoa! woman and trophy...although that is a materialistic comparision, i am glad nepalese guys have learnt to prize women rather than be skeptical about their identity...a step at a time :) most nepalese guys i have come across in the US share their biases towards women based on physical attraction and despise their intellectual charm to a null. sad. NK, you are too rude on Biswo, be glad that lashing on women based on their looks has turned into something positive, whatever the reason for it may be... :)

chill!

SITARA Posted on 07-May-04 09:53 AM

Hey hey Biswo, interesting topic here! It got even more intriguing after the unintentional but complacently mentioned/agreed upon skewed version of the "prize"; "prize", the term here being used as a metaphor to express the value of a woman. Here, I take the liberty to assume the concluding remark to mean "priceless". Feel free correct my assumptions.

Re: the "scent" of the woman: Two perceptions under discussion--

Were you all referring to "that which seduces" the olfactory senses; or the one that assaults every sense, triggering off a "flight or fight" response. The "smell of roses", may be found cloyingly sweet... almost like the fruity scent which leaves you wondering if you near a compost bin or near a fruitmarket. "headiness" in the actual sense is a combination of pheromones, artificial enhancer and body odor. After some elapsed time, you won't need the perfume to get high in the company of the woman you like!:)

The other, is the "aura" of the woman; how she projects herself, physically, intellectually, emotionally, spiritually.... as a whole entity.

Indeed, your subject matter tickled my amusement; imagine a group of men seriously contemplating the scent of a woman!:)

dyamn Posted on 07-May-04 10:17 AM

Biswo Posted on 07-May-04 11:01 AM

DC girl,

Thanks for your support, but I am sure NK was not rude to me. She is a nice lady, and just wanted me to clarify things. I am glad to clarify that the dialogue probably has some low content in it, may be objectifies woman if viewed from some particular angle, but the dialogue as a whole was just a search for something.

Sitara:

What we were searching was the metaphor for something that 'good'women possess, that attracts all men, something common in all women. What we came up with was also something which can have different smells (in fact, trophies don't smell anything particular, they just smell victory), but which we all know has a definite attraction in it. Trophies are desired, the more work you put on the competition the more desired they become, you take them and you feel empowered and superior.

I am glad you liked the stuff.

Dyamn:

Well, I think you need to be sober sometimes. Have fun.
