I have a verizon dsl connection at home and I share the dsl connection on two computers. One of them is running Windows 2000 prof and other one is running Windows XP. I'm sharing the internet connection using a Linksys model BE
FSR41 router(bought from amazon.com) Westell model 2200 dsl modem (provided by verizon). The internet connection is fine in both the computers. Does anyone know if i can share files between these two computers. Just like creating a home networking between my two computers? Can anyone help....??? hiya fellas..... i'm expecting some help plzzzzzzz

^RUDE!!! :P hehe..hows hols going??

ordinary boy...what exactly are u asking..?? after so much writing..well a bit confused what exactly are u asking...:D

im taking a guess u want to access some folders in one pc from another...:D

seems like u have already set up a network..(joining th Lan etc)which works...
if u havent setup a network yet...do this..

go to Start--> then click My Network Places
once that is done..
in the My Network folder..on the top left..u have Network tasks
click Set up a home or a small office network..follow the instructions..
do the same thing for ur other computer...remember they must be linked to the same Workgroup name....)

once this network has been set up..or well u have already done this...
go to My Network Places and check if the computers have been linked.
Click View workgroup computers, there should be 2 computers name(since u have 2 pc)

and well to share the folders....
depending on which computer u are in....if u wanna share a folder...right click on the folder..and well go to properties...in properties..click sharing..and under there..tick..share this folder on the network...(up to u to allow user to change ur files)..
apply the setting and it should be done...
other way will be to plac ethe files into ur default Shared Document folder...its too troublesome to move files around..1st option is btter i reckon..:D
anywys once all this done..the files in that folder can be accessed by the person from the other pc.....

hope this helps..if it doesnt...just press F1 in windows....theres networking in there..if u cant find it...type it..:P
anyways it networking works for me..btween 2000 and XP so there shouldnt be any trouble..
have fun..hehe..

cheers..:D

don't forget the firewall. as soon as you get router, you will have hallowelt virus in your computer. remove it, and put firewall on. and to share files between the firewall
right click the connection, go to properties, advanced, then enable firewall. then go to settings and click add
on description put file share, then put 192.168.1.1 for ip and put 445 on both ports.
then click ok, then check the file share box.
that allows you to share files within firewall. sometimes it acts nuts so it might stop all share. disable firewall to check! to make changes or to put firewall in your modem
enter that same ip in internet explorer ,and go to configuration, then firewall configuration.

good luck. i am still lackin file share. was able to access printer, but since it went nuts, i have not fixed it.
