Srilankan offspinner Mutthiah Muralitharan is now the highest wicket taker in the world, and he achieved that feat breaking Walsh's record last week on tour to Zimbabwe. However, having been called two or three times in his career for chucking, he remains the most controversial of them all. He is best known for turning the ball on absolutely any turf there is around the world and causing trouble to many a batsman with his "doosra", the delivery that turns the other way.

I believe it was Saqlain Mustaq who first introduced that delivery into world cricket and then Murali later specialized it. ICC has warned Murali for a year ban if he bowls that "doosra" again but he remains defiant that he will continue bowling it, despite the warning.

The quesiton here is does Murali Chuck?

Krishna, Murli does not chuck but the delivery "dossara" have to be thrown with a different flow of hand and that plus his congenital deformity of the joint makes the bend of 10 degree more than the permisible limit.
It is the joint deformity, also in case of Sohiab that is considered a flaw.
History are for winners, and whatever be the verdict of the others, he is now the top wicket taker. Wish him all the best ahead.

.Doosra is nothing but a ball bowled by a right arm off-spinner and it spins away from the right hander instead of coming in where the direction (move) of wrist and elbow have important role. Like, the wrist usually moves in a clockwise direction with an elbow giving the right direction. Elbow comes into play a lot and without bending it, it is difficult to bowl. Credit to doosra goes Saqlain who invented it about 5 yrs back.

However, Saqlain din't face any problem, and has captured around 208 wickets too with his doosra. As the reason given by Maninder Singh, former Indian spinner, "There was no problem with Saqlain because he used to bowl with a full-sleeved shirt on," implying that the bent elbow is not so much visible inside the full sleeve. No doubt, Murali is the spin wizard, and the Australian Prime Minister reportedly called him a 'chucker': this remark is unreasonable.
