a blog is not just a place where you can write your journals. it is popular because it has given people a place to share their writings online. most of the popular sites are also news sites where a team of people work on a blog to provide opinions on the news around the world. wannabe writers also post their work online to gain readership. to say blogs are online journals would be a narrow definition.
