Basic idea of democracy is dynamic evolvement of leadership. The long performance of the two so called big political parties; avowal of Girija and Makune clearly indicates that they are getting moldy. Girija used to hates communists and was noxious about them, but he enters in very tight alliance with them when he sees that he could benefit from the alliance. He had made many accusations that Prachanda and Baburam are creation of Nirmal Niwas. Now he says something else. Just like Girija, Makune threatens to take arms and secretly rushes to Lucknow to meet the Maobadi leaders and says Maobaidis are creation of Gyanendra himself. He is closely following Girija's steps. What's next? Is this not a serious joke with the nation? If a democracy cannot produce leadership is it not anarchy?

Despite vehement opposition from dying Manhohan (while he was at the hospital) the CPNUML leadership sold Mahakali in collaboration with Girija.

The change of leadership of most corrupt, failed, old and haggard leadership is a must for any democratic society. Ranabhat has risen from a lower middle class to this level. Where as these two pundits have enjoyed good lives and have ruined the nation. Their horrendous leadership has brought the country disaster and bankruptcy.

Why is Ranabhat denounced? What wrong he has done against the country or the people? What's wrong with his qualifications? What corruption and crimes he has committed?

I hope no one believes that democracy is just Girija and Makune. If you are one of those I have nothing to say.

Tick, good and thoughtful analysis. I second you!

Ratatata for PM

Tara Bhat-- what kind of dynamic leadership does he have? He just wants to be a TK PM like Surya Bdr and Chand. What does he have to have that leadership-- nothing. Although he won the election, he had previously lost to a minor, a lot younger politician of his constituent. Actually with the break up of UML, it was a lotto for him. If you look at his constituency-- what has he really done there-- almost nothing. He is a leech stuck to the post. And what did he have to say to save his face-- I will still be Speaker of the House (which does not exist) and the PM as well.

He is not the leader that can emerge from this mess we've got. We need some smart leaders who can make bold decision. If we are to get some "ati raajabadi" its never gonna work. Ra-ta-ta-ta-tat is not the solution.

Mr. Tick,

I concur with your analysis

Leaders like GPK and MK Nepal who has jointly ruled the country for more than a decade with the respective parties have proved that they lack vision, ability and guts to lead the country ý democratically.

The political parties that ruled Nepal after the restoration of democracy have proved that they are lead by corrupt immoral and unscrupulous leaders. Koirala despite corruption, incompetence and many scandals during his rule is still enjoying his party's loyalty. When Mahakali was sold, though there was vigorous opposition in the parliament by the friendly opposition and co-rulers on the opposition bench CPNUML collaborated, supported the ruling party and formally sold the river to India. It does not take a genius to understand what might have happened behind the scenes for the sale. When the opposition can be bought and sold democracy cannot function. Country is bathing in blood everywhere even at this critical juncture the lust for power is the only party-politics for these leaders. These power-monger and haggard leaders are directly responsible for the present crisis.

As far as Deuba's new government goes (many senior ministers of his previous government are facing grave corruption charges; were infamous for misusing powers like Govinda and Khadka) normal functioning of the new administration will be impossible if he does not bring people that have corruption-free record, with new faces the democratic practice might go smoothly other wise his new administration will not be any different than the previous ones.
