Problems are quite subjective. It never ends. It just changes its shape and size with time. Thus solution is just an illusion. We basically trade between different problems and find the best suited for that time and we stamp it as a solution.

All pain and suffering are the result of individuals wanting what they cannot have. When we stop wanting, the object of our desires moves closer to us and makes it more possible to achieve it. Men want other men to behave in ways that the others do not want. The conflict between what we want and what we cannot have (at the moment) is the root of all unhappiness and strife. To strive for a goal is desireable but insisting on having our own way is not. Relax, let life happen. Live is a process and not an event. Suffering is normal and even desireable. Happiness is preferable but not guaranteed.

I believe that all the suffering, pain and problems in our world comes directly from us. We have both good and evil in us. We may not like to admit or believe that we have evil side but when we look deep down in our soul we know that it exists. This I believe is the source of all sufferings in our world. Be it pride, greed, jealousy, envy, lust, hatred, or whatever else it may be or however insignificant you may think it is. These evil aspect of ours remains the main driving force in most people's everyday lives. Unless we defeat this evil force in us, we will never be able to save our world. I am not a pessimist by nature; on the contrary I am quite optimistic. You might be wondering why I decided to post the question that I did; well lately I have been thinking a lot about why there is so much problems in our world. I have traveled a lot around the world; thus I have been able to get an insight on many different cultures in our world. Though cultures might be different, I realized that we all have the same weakness, same flaw that causes all the suffering and problem. So I realized that we will never have a world where we can or at least the children can remain innocent or where we can live without having to worry about what’s going to happen, unless we as individuals start fighting the evil that is within us. I know there is good in us, there is no doubt about it but right now unfortunately for many us, a wall has been built by evil in order to stop us from reaching out to the good and righteousness that I know exists in us all. So try to find time to spend by yourself, do a little soul searching, see what you are like cause unfortunately many people today seem to be so engrossed in a life where they can hardly find time to spend by themselves for personal reflection. Learn to be kind everyday, you will be amazed just how much a simple thank you could mean to a person. So every time you go to your office, schools or wherever, greet everyone with a big smile and don't look down on anyone. I was just reading another posting about Nepalese working in India restaurants, I frankly can't see any wrong in that but it looks like that some people seem to despise these hard working people. See this is the sort of disposition that causes problems. We got to understand that all life is equal and that our daily survival depends on each other. One by one we can make a difference. I would like to leave you with quotes by Lord Buddha and Haile Selassie. "It is a man's own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways." -Lord Buddha "Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made it possible for evil to triumph." -Haile Selassie

Hey 4, On sufferings: You sound pretty much like Siddartha in Herman Hesse's novel by the same title. I like your thoughts. But living in this tough ugly world - where survival is the name of the game - it's not always possible to follow Budhha's teachings letter for letter. What do you say? Suffering is inevitable - some have the grace to take it with a smile and move on. Some others fret over it; still others allow it to make them bitter and insecure. These people forget to move on. But I have also wondered over the years whether sufferings make man a better person. It was probably Maugham who said they tend take something away - call it life force, vitality, innocence, or simplicity - from us forever. Sorry, if I sound too preachy. That's my personal observation. You are free to laugh at it.
