Son of chest-thumping, from-the-village-bahun tops SLC! I wonder what ever happened to sons of King-backing, from-the-city-elite bahun (mostly St. Xavier's and Budhanilkantha educated)? Parents too busy in king's Chakari? :)

"Bishal Khanal of Everest Boarding School from Butwal topped the School Leaving Certificate examination (SLC) by securing 94.15 percent."

Go ... mofasal ka bahun haru Go...!!

HOw sure you Mr. Bond-007 that the SLC topper is one of chest-thumping, from-the-village-bahun?

Remember, the topper is from Boarding school... so don't you think he is one of sons of King-backing, from-the-city-elite bahun. Think twice before you pour your opinion here.

Think what a effort Pushkar Shah has put in World Bike Tour. Has any of those chest-thumping, from-the-village-bahun or sons of King-backing, from-the-city-elite bahun even dared to accept such whole life effort in circling the world???? NOPE.

Mr. Bond, You being in service of Her Majesty's Secret Service should not be so quick to attack Ashu and procalim him a royalist.:)

In all fairness, a whole slew of kids at both Budanilkhantha and St. Xavier's come from the villages or rural areas of Nepal. Just because Ashu criticized Girija and his cronies doesn't exactly make him a King's "Chamcha"!

Like Puskar has aptly pointed out that this kid went to a "boarding" school and is from Butwal( not exactly a gaon).

Thank you, Doc.

My GENERAL criticism (for what it was worth then) was DIRECTED specifically
at Girija and his cronies whose political stances remain so arrogantly rigid that, as a citizen, I have begun to think that their intransigence has begun to hurt them and
the janata and they they are NOT helping to move the country forward.

As such, it would be a MISrepresentation of my position (and an easy fodder to my critics) if people started thinking that I meant ALL village bahuns when I did NOT.

As I have clarified: I do have a number of close friends (bahuns and others) who struggled hard in their villages, and through their own hard work, have become successful, thriving professionals in and out of Nepal today. Theyare always a pleasure
to interact with. I have nothing but respect for them.

If people insist on seeing only DARK motives behind my admittedly provocative
general remark (and I do visit Sajha to provoke thoughts), then, I wish them
well.

On another note, in another thread, I was criticized for writing regularly for a bahun-owned newspaper, as though I should apologize for doing that . . .

Thankfully, as a matter of evidence, as that group PHOTO in the latest edition of The Nepali Times shows, my pieces do get edited by very accomplished young Gurung and Sherpa women, and not by some bahun . . .

Ashuji, whatever be your reason for giving that provacative remark, and now this explanation stressed on ethnic line-you are fanning the flame instead of smoothering it.
By some bahun.. unconcluded and reserved ending gave room for my comment, which may be my intelectual shortcomming.

Hey Ashu,
keep on meditating... it will do good to your mind and your action. Probably you will never appear here in sajha once you purify your mind. Do not waste your time here... Try to dedicate the amount of time you used to spend here in sajha trying to be "intellectual' in teh meditation... then you will realize who you are, you will know the truth... Once you know the truth perhaps you will never appear here.

Darsankaka, don't provoke Ashu or as a metter anyone else to fuel debate that fuels ethnic grudge. Let us realize the gravity of the issue and lay it to rest for wider goodwill. I appreciate Ashu's patience to hold himself back from the temptation to come out and clarify his previous and recent statements. But zealots will always find one thing or other to attempt dragging down and bask in self declared sense of victory. Let us have debates that will gel the comunity rather than divide it, as various fronts are created to drive the wedge.
darshankaka Posted on 15-Jun-04 10:36 AM

I am not provoking Ashu in anyways... I am suggesting Ashu to meditate as much as he can, so that he will understand himself very well, which will be the truth never to be questioned.

There is no point boasting here with tarka sastra.
