Dear sajha friends,

The government is spending billions in war. Similarly, the donors are giving billions worth of military hardware. Now suppose that you are promised about 6 billion rupees each year for the next five years to be spent in Nepal in constructive work/project(nothing to do with war), how would you spend the amount? Lets say you have to think of two projects of yearly 3 billion each that would bring maximum result. Please leave no room for corruption.
I love to dream,

3 billion would mean Rs 6,250 each month as salary to 40,000 educated unemployed people ( about 10 person each from 4000 villages) to teach children and adults. Imagine 40,000 households (family) will be better off and all this money is going to be spent in the country itself and its multiplier effect to the economy and economic and social activities. This is not a big amount when thinking internationally at country level.
Would other sajha friends post their ideas no matter how radical t maybe.

Uhm...If I was given 6 billion Rupees to spend in a constructive work, I would invest it in:

1) Health sector: a) Vaccinations, Immunizations especially in rural areas, where these necessities get neglected at times.
2) Provide free of charge Tuberculosis treatment or reduce the rate to a very minimum rate so that those afflicted (from lower socio-economic background) can follow through the whole process of treatment and prevent it from becoming an epidemic.
Or
3) Open a small clinic in a rural area, where one has to walk 3 days to get treated for one's illness. Clinic, that will take care of very basic problems, for example, wound dressing (very common in rural areas due to the type of occupation one is involved in and the environment), U know very basic medical treatments, not the complex ones. Open it at a location, that will benefit wider area! Employ one health care worker - and provide medical supplies needed.
Or
4) Sponsor children to receive a good education like anyone else!

These are some...I got more :)! Take care!

P.s. Did I make sense? :)!

Well, I'm still at the learning process with the notion that why investing in social programs such as health, education, employment greatly help achieve "Just Society" in a country. I'm greatly impressed with the experiment and the success of Canadians.

Having been lived in both the United States and Canada for quite sometime, I found such a stark difference between these two countries that I'm still not fully able to comprehend. However, now, I have come to grasp it to some level why investing in social programs pays itself back .
