ýThe constituent assembly will not only lead the country towards republic but also towards religious and ethnic division. At a time when demands for ethnic and regional autonomy are being raised and when there is increased international activities here, going for constituent assembly would be fatal,ý Girija Prasad Koirala, president of Nepali Congress, answering questions of reporters about the demand of some leaders of his party about the constituent assembly. Girija is a major problem. He was in power longer than anyone else in the 1990s. It was due to his mismanagement that the Congress corruption culture thrived. And it was his mismanagement and utter inflexibility that led to the collapse of the first majority government. His mismanagement that led to the collapse of the political center which made room for the rise of a powerful extreme left and a powerful extreme right. Now he is against a Constituent Assembly because: (1) Nepal might end up a republic. (2) Nepal might end up with federalism. The guy would rather continue with the civil war. A republic would be a good thing. Federalism would be great. That is the future.

Girija is sick. Any predictions? when he will leave this physical world. God would not want him any sooner, too.

quote Now he is against a Constituent Assembly because: (1) Nepal might end up a republic. (2) Nepal might end up with federalism. The guy would rather continue with the civil war. A republic would be a good thing. Federalism would be great. That is the future. Unquote I too dont have doubt about misdeeds and mismanagement of girija. But if someone has committed mistakes in teh past, does it mean he has no capacity to judge the future? I believe what girija is saying now - what would happen after and IF nepal being a rebublic - is quite true. And going by the above quote, it seems to suggest that ending up with the republic would end the civil war. Would it be that easy? Would the royal army and the militia be able to live as one? I dont think so. It would give rise to more intense war. As for now, bleak is the future.
