Are nepali people ever going to be civilized? When it comes to public property Nepali people have no care for it al all. Look at public toilets, public transportation, public parks etc. etc All nepalese seem to have the same train of thought, if its not mine it can go to hell. For public toilets- Its not that hard to aim when you're urinating. Its not like you don't have enough space. But people have to make all sorts of artwork on the wall, and create the aroma of uric acid. And why are they always flooded ? even if there is severe shortage of water in the city, those bathrooms are always flooded. To top it off, you got to pay the guy at the door.
Public transportations- foogittabout it. There used to be a famous saying in KTM(BAANDHER KO HAAT MA NARIWAL). When those nice blue ISUZU busses came to KTM, we were all excited. But within a month there were all sorts of ripped seats, handles broken, paint scraped, smell of urine in the back etc etc.
Public parks- Well the only public park I knew in KTM was Ratna Park... need I say more ??
This goes on and on, Are we ever going to learn ? Are we ever going to get it through our thick heads that public belongs to everyone ? I think this is exactly what is missing in our society. Same goes for GBNC and its members. People don't seem to realize that this is ours. Everyone seems to think that GBNC does not represent them and their needs. The members feel the comittee is their enemy, comittee thinks the members are their enemy(cause they are never happy).
Untill we learn to be civilized and learn how to mediate instead of looking for means and ways of destroying each other, we will never move forward.

And look how they are trashing each other in this site. They don't have a clue how to be civil and still be heard. Calling names in the public forum because it is free and you can hide your face and name when you are puking garbage. Civility! kun charako nam ho hahn? They come to the states and eat chicken and jand and and come here and trash people thus muddying the site. Civility!Humph. I have a suspicision these are the same people who says just about anything about anybody here and who harass women in the street of kathmandu and bus by cat calling, pinching and pushing. Any cure besides drowning them in filthy Bagmati? Coz that sounds a bit harsh.

Oh yes I forgot to mention about the people of Nepal. All that meow, whistleing, cupin'a feel in the bus crowd, and destroying anything and everything that gets in their path when they are drunk. All of that has not changed one bit, even after migrating here. They wouldn't dare say it in english but you would often hear coments like, "DUDH HEAR NA DUDH, CHAK TA SHAU JESTO TOKU TOKU LAAGCHA, PWAT MAAL HEARNA etc.etc." Are we ever going to change ?

You took the words out of my mouth. I am not only talking about the young generation, but the old ones as well. I just happen to overhear a group of older Nepli men(50-60yrs) in a train about a wk ago. I just couldn't believe it. I think the govt of Nepal should teach a class in civility to all its citizens(maybe when they are in jr high or high school).
da bRAT Posted on 22-Aug-01 11:56 AM

talk about old people. males especially, they'll kill for a young gal. whether nepal or usa, old people can be disgusting at times. but not all are the same, the uncivilized ones are definitely subscribing to playboy and hustler. talk about intercourse and they are the ones to indulge in extra marital affairs. i myself have come to know about a few nepali old folks in north carolina who are in their 50s and 60s and bang women here left, right and center. their viewpoints? ke garne babu, swasni, baccha haru nepal ma chhan, ramailo ta garnai paryo ni, keti dekhe pachhi uthi halchha." PATHETIC!
sick of this Posted on 23-Aug-01 11:50 AM

Sick, sick, sick, and disgusting. Who are these people anyway? What do they learn at home and school? why are they so frustrated bunch who is able show their 'machoism" only in disguise; in the bus crowd, talking filthy in Nepali thinking nobody understands them, here in this message board thinking nobody can trace them. what a sick sick sick bunch. At the end I can only pity them. They must have a miserable-miserable life. Don't you think so?

PRAJWOL Posted on 23-Aug-01 12:47 PM

Why are these prople so rude and crude when it comes to dealing with women. Can't they be a little nice ? what is wrong with these people ? I have had a couple of encounters with old folks. Its disgusting. Could we do anything to change them ?
manche Posted on 23-Aug-01 12:51 PM

They are not grown ups....... their mind grows up to limited capacity only... not beyond 16 years old mind..........
Hmm... Posted on 23-Aug-01 12:53 PM

I just want to point out that this sort of behaviour (the sexaul comments and such) are also prevalent here in the States. Not to the extreme as in Kathmandu, but it sure does exist here too. Perhaps, what makes things "better" here is that women have a stronger voice here, and know that they don't have to take shit. To give an extreme example, just listen to the words of the new hit from Janet Jackson, "All the girls in the party, look at that body, got a NICE PACAKAGE alright, gonna have to ride it tonight!". What I am saying is that when it comes to sexuality, women in the US are on a more even par with men. Perhaps when Nepali women reach a stage where they feel empowered too, then Nepali men may not feel as comfortable with such "high-school behaviour".

I know all about those perverted old folks. Have worked with few of them.
they are not sick, they are just horny. Guess that's what happens when you get old and don't have sex for prolonged period of time. To put it another way, they miss their wives I guess.
