Does anyone know if we have a Gbnc calender ? Do we have any upoming events ? I seriously think this site should put up a GBNC calender for up coming events. Or There is nothning going on till the Dasain party in Novembe ? Just curious

GBNC brother/sister. Aren't we all, nepalese living in greather boston
area, the members of GBNC? As a member, isn't it our responsibility to
make GBNC effective? why do we always blame the executive members for
being ineffective as if it is none of our business to try to help GBNC
be more effective. we are equally responsible for the downfall of GBNC,
as all the executive members are.

Dear GBNC citizens,
I will be running for the GBNC President this year and I will personally make sure that GBNC comes out of the water during my presidency.
What does the Greater Boston Nepali population want the GBNC council to do? I would like to find out what kind of expectation is held by the community at large, so that I can better serve the community.

BIDYA is right- In the next election- the President better have an Agenda, A calender of events, and an EOB as a GBNC member.
we do not want another year of Organizing events only after the memebers instigated it. We need a Leader, not a mouse who hides behind the dog when the cat chases him.

GBNC is a voluntary organization that exists because a group of people volunteer to do the work. If there was no group of people who volunteer to do the things necessary, GBNC would not be there.
If sometimes these people who generously volunteer their time to keep GBNC alive are busy with their own lives and not able to organize more events, then it's not their fault. AT LEAST they are doing what most of us are not.
You can be as cynical as you want or as sarcastic as you want, but the truth of the matter is right now nobody has enuff time to do everything that the general Nepali population here expects.
If you want the kind of organization you are hoping for, be prepared to cash out some checks to the organization so that the people who are doing it gets more motivated rather than discouraged as they are right now cuz people who don't do squat bitch about them all the time.
As some famous person will someday say, you can't get too much for free! Wake up you are living in the heart of capitalism!

Asking us why we need a calender is like asking why we need a president. Heard that there used to be a lot more activities before than now. like samachar bichar, momo parties, movies, gatherings etc etc. General members feel that this year GBNC has been a sitting duck. Gbnc should make better efforts to inform its members on what the hell is going on in GBNC. Like what is the next agenda ? How can we inform our members ? How can we get more people involved , how do we entice them ? How can we improve ? Or even give perks to executive members for working hard(movie tickets). Start a fund that will pay for these perks. There sure are a lot of things GBNC could do but is not willing. As a president one should be thinking how can I make better rather than how can I get by ?

Otherwise you certainly would not be calling yourself Chahalpahal would you ? How can you run a company when the CEO's attitude is HAAI BHAIHALCHA NI. If the top person has that attitude then how do you expect others react ? That is why there are so many complaints, people are not happy the way GBNC is conducting its business. we need to get better not get by.

I don't give a damn about calendar. BTW Prakas Thapa, I am talking about CALENDAR not CALENDER. If you are looking for a GBNC Calender then you go man! but I am not interested in having a calender(a machine with rollers used to form thin sheets from paper, plastic, or other material, or to impart a desired surface finish) either. Franlky, I don't know what the hell do we need that machine for?
Why calander is like why president? ke bhanyako testo? Hatti ra Hatti Chhap Chappal jasto? ustai ustai ho bhaneko dai?
some people come up with real nice ideas but do nothing to implement their ideas...as always...pyar pyar.... (whycalendar is cool!)

Here is another mouse in hiding. I gues if you don't know what calender of events is..... you need to go to an ESL class. Calender is not cool, it is a necessity. No wonder GBNC was late in holding most of its functions. If you don't know Monday from Saturday, what can I say. You can hide but its obvious who you are. If you are in the drivers seat and you take the turn and get lost, of course the passengers are going to yell at you for taking them around town for no apparant reason. That is why you have to know where you are going. Same principle here. If you were supposed to get to work at 9 am and because of the driver you were 1 hr late. who are you going to blame ? of course the driver. And being the driver is a matter of choice, if you cannot drive and run the schedule on time then PLEASE DO NOT BE THE DRIVER

Is it too much to ask for some kind of program what the future president of GBNC counicl intends to do once he he/she gets elected?
We are losing the focus here in this debate, in this thread. All we the GBN community wants is a president who knows why he/she wants to be the president and once he/she becomes, what his plans are regarding the direction of community.
I don't think we are forcing to somebody to be the president. But, if somebody WANTS to be the future president (yes, VOLUNTARILY!!!) then I hope that person knows the expectation of the community. The otherside of the coin is NOBODY IS forcing him/her to be the member. As somebody said before: "we have had enought of this I-am-volunteer-so-I-am-not-responsible crap."
I have a suspicion whoever is hiding and talking for the GBNC council member that person actually is ONE OF THE MEMBERS.
There were direct allegation and nobody from the council with their real names came forward to answer charges. Only some hidden mouthpieces.
Again, putting blame aside, if members are elected then they'd better have an agenda and not blame the community for not participating. Like that dude say you are the driver so you'd better know where your khatara vehicle is going.
It may have been different to organize events in the past when GBN community consisted of fewer than hundred people. Now time is different so the future president SHOULD have some idea how to bring peple together. It is not a criticism but just a suggestion.
I am afraid GBNC "executive council" does look like a rag doll so far at least past couple of years.

This is exactly what I am talking about. When important issues come about. They all hide their tails up their behind and start bullshiting. I am talking about improving our community here and here we are playing cat and mouse. If you guys did not do a good job thats ok. But at least make sure the next comittee that comes along is not a sitting duck like the current one. You at leat owe it to the community.
