Talent show 2001 runs into controversy Post Report KATHMANDU, Sept 16 - The Mr. and Miss Talent Show 2001 held here Saturday night ran into controversy after the organisers allegedly manipulated the results, according to the "actual winners" and judges of the show. "I know that the names of the winners announced by the organisers are not the names we had selected," said Sujan Lama, an ex-model and one of the judges for the Talent Show. "The decision has been manipulated for sure." According to the judges, Dheeraj Tandukar was selected the ‘best male model’, Depashree the ‘best female model’, Neeraj Tandukar and Beena Ghale the best 'male and female catwalk', among others. The coordinator had announced Jeetendra Karki and Beena Ghale as the best male and female models - and not the ones recommended by the panel of judges, said Ramesh Shrestha, another judge for the show, who represented the Chaudhary Group. Guddi Sijapati of Dream Model Link, the organiser of the show, had announced the names of the winners before a packed audience at the Hotel De’l Annapurna. But, the angry and violent audience, tipped off about the "manipulation’, did not allow her to complete her declaration. "I have nothing to say," said Milan Sijapati, one of the organisers of the show, flatly denying the charges of manipulations when asked to comment on the matter. "I have no idea what is going on. Something has gone wrong today and we are yet to figure that out." Altogether there were 21 male models and 14 female models participating in the show former model and choreographer, Prashant Tamrakar was also present at the show. He could not be reached for comments Saturday night. Other judges in the panel included model Mahesh Shrestha, modeling instructor, Sangeeta Upreti. "Fashion shows have become very common these days and I personally feel that nothing new has evolved for a very long time in the world of fashion," said a good-looking Upreti as the show progressed. "This field is getting very commercialized and I feel that there is very less possibility for sudden improvement here." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Notice the last paragraph. What a laugh! The "good looking Upreti" is disturbed and distressed by the commercialization of the fashion show! Wow! How could fashion and comerical go hand in hand? What a blasphemy! God save the world. The pure and serene world of models and fashion is corrupted by money! This world is coming to an end!

Abuse of Female participants in fashion shows in world class competition is some time heard too. In philipine, few years back too one Video camera recorded the bypass of results of judges at the very last seconds. Fashion is part of Commerce, they can not be separated. What Ms. Upreti has to say is that Fashion shows are another means of corruption in Nepal and also in other parts of the world, and a means to abuse the fashion models. In Nepal where does not corruption occurers? Many peoples and I also believed that TU might be one least corrupted place. No, I recently heard that there is another Bazar of certificates. In TU, there is a committee to categorize the certificates obtained from foreign universities, and the peoples especially in medical profession and engineering, they pay a lot qualify for the Masters degree that was obtained from 1st 5years of university education. As we know, its just Bachelor, but, the peoples want such quanlification to sell themselves in market and to get the professional position especially in government jobs and promotions, they offer 100s of thousands to the committee and get qualified. Don't you believe? Thats your problem, not mine. If you are from East European universities, you can realize this fact. I had one teacher who graduated from East Europe, he said that many students from Nepal who go to east europe used to spend 5years playing soccer (football) and other things, then, finally, returned with a certificate printed in a press and fake signed. Such peoples are now qualified as full professionals by our great university TU. So, do not expect anyone in position in Nepal, might not misuse the power for money, for fame and what not?
