TKP Sept 14, and sept 19:

Hear local voices
(Prescrip;t: TKP: news pape run by ghost writers based on personal imagination)

The news report, entitled "Maoistsf September 21 meet creates fear in the capital"
(TKP, Sept 14, 2001) was for me no better than what we read in several evening newspapers.

In that story I could not find a single responsible citizen whose version would be reliable to us. "One of the Shopkeepers", "a hotel entrepreneur", "Subarna Debi Fanju", "Nikesh Khadka of Sarasworti School" were some of the people, you quoted in the story but none of them gave their full or real identities.

You might have heard that the Maoist terrorists have taken away 25 sacks of beaten rice from a shopkeeper in Ward No 15, and 600 blankets from Ward No 25. Why canft you go and ask them what actually happened? They could give you a better picture of the panic and trouble they have to live in almost everyday.

None of the renowned, social workers, businessmen, doctors and teachers of the capital came in your contacts. I canft believe it. It seems that Utpal Raj Mishra and Ghanshyam Ojha wrote the newsreport without doing any fieldwork.

Your paper gives a lot of space to useless speeches of politicians, but not to the people from various walks of life. Or if you really want to show that you care for the public, then go to the public, talk to them, try to understand their pain and misery, and write about them.

I always used to tell peoples that TKP reporters are all writing
articles based on their ability to imagine at least 5 km away from
the place their writing represents.

Not only is TKP run by ghost writers, it is also run by plagiarists, cowards, and for the lack of better term, by "napunsaks". I am not calling names, just adding features to the faces who cannot show otherwise.

A good number of TKP's readers, including myself, asked for justice to be done to its readers by making public statement against plagiarism, and making public what actions it took against plagiarist Binaj Gurubacharya. And Suman Pradhan has the courage to cite Boston Globe cases to support his inaction.

There are some very promising writers that I read in the Sunday Post (names too many to mention here). But they are in the company of ghosts and cowards. These writers are being deprived of professional guidance and mentoring.

I am sure Suman Pradhan will come up with a convoluted justification to his inaction in plagiarism case, further showing his cowardliness, and "napunsak_ness".

Who made Prachanda Hero ? Its Kantipur Publications Pvt. Ltd.
Who is , now, the number one Enemy of Prachanda ? Kantipur Publication.
VICE VERSA is also True.
What Kantipur was doing until one month back? Participating in
Maoist Propaganda.
What happened after 4lakh issue? Kantipur Publication realized that
they were feeding snakes to let them swell from "KARET " snake
to Cobra and now Python. The Ajingar is getting AAHARA just
by sending FAX and back dated letters and one of the AAHARA
is its own ADVISOR and partner in propaganda i.e KPub.
So, what KPub. is doing now? In recent weeks, KPub is going
against Maoists, and indulged in Anti-Maoist Propaganda,
trying to bargain with Maoists, Hey its our turn to be Hero,
by publishing the news that the useless snake whom we fed
so much and made now Ajinger is trying to attack on us, we
will make you back the Karat by Dehydration, and mal-nuitrion.
What peoples are doing ? Now, peoples are confused. They are
not sure what the hell is this KPub is doing, sometime it give
all positive news (only +ve) in KPub 's news media and now
it suddently switched to all -ve news (only) related Maoists.
What the hell is this KPub? And, in fact, peoples have now
started to who are those ghost writers who quote "ek
jankar sutra ka anusar", "ek bidyarthi ko bhanai ... ".
"ek naam batauna nachahane Royal palace ka manish ka
anushar" . . . blah . . . blah.... Its good that peoples
have learned what they had to learn 6years back, anyway,
late better than never. KPub never expected peoples to
be aware of such ghost writers.

My conclusion, most of the KPub. reportings are based on other
news reporters like RSS, and other local news papers, and the
KPub twist, enlarge, and imagine: SOMETHING BORROWED,
SOMETHING STOLEN and SOMETHING OWN IMAGINATION =
KPub news reporting.

Example, The guy named Gangadhar ... , the KPub. reporter
from Pokhara, is one great example. He writes all articles in
Pokhara mainly based on his imagination, tea time and telephone
conversation. How did you know?might be your question.
Please go and read at http://www.pokhara.org/
You may read additional example below. Believe is or not,
I can find KPub. reporters for you to
publish any Garbage in KPub. provided you have
some green dollars, this is what they speaks.

---- read below. With due acknowledgement. Published for public
debate. What does copy right act of Nepal says? Please, let us
know. Its copied here for educational and analytical purposes,

against violation of copy right act of Nepal. ---- GP

Stop glamorising Prachanda
It was shocking to read the news report entitled "Rebel leader warns Govt of violent retribution" (September 17, 2001, TKP). Thousands of students in four major campuses, including Tribhuwan University, were terrorized by hundreds of soldiers and policemen but your story concentrated only on so called Comrade Prachanda's faxed statement.

The main thing is what makes Tilak Pokhrel address the ghost (the invisible man) called "Comrade"? He or she might be a comrade for Pokhrel but not for the citizens. Was there any reason to glamorise Prachanda? In fact such practices encourage violence and terror.

The reporter could have talked to those innocent students who were not involved in dirty politics, but were terrorised by the army and policemen. Two to four policemen with gigantic guns stormed into the rooms of the students, searched their books and dresses and misbehaved with them. What was the reason?

Rather than including the plight of the innocent students, the report only highlighted Prachandafs statement. If he or she can say that "Deuba government has ripped its own constitution by the sword of autocracy", what would Pokhrel say to all the terrorist activities, extortion, threatenings? And the ANNISU-Revolutionary is threatening to shut down all schools and academic institutions. How long can they go on doing this?

Important News: Biggest archives of Nepali books survives Maoist attack

PrS: (Nivne belako batti dhapakka balcha)---- GP. Maoist gone mad.

The biggest repository of books in the Nepali speaking world, Madan Puraskar
Pustakalaya, escaped a major fire when Maoist students carried out an arson attack on a nearby school early Thursday morning.

Seven Maoist students with molotov cocktails climbed over a boundary wall of the school parking lot in Patan Dhoka and tried to set two school buses and a car on fire. However, the molotovs in the buses parked directly below the library did not go off although the buses were severley damaged.

"We have averted a major tragedy for the Nepali nation here today," said Kamalmani Dixit, who founded the library 40 years ago. Had the buses gone up in flames, the library would have been razed to the ground, witnesses said.

Three vehcles were damaged, and fires quickly put out by alert staff of Rato Bangala School, and the arsonists chased away. The attack appears to be a part of a campaign of threat and intimidation against private schools in Kathmandu Valley which had opened on Wednesday defying a Maoist call to close schools for five days.

This is one of the most popular English daily newspapers of Nepal. If their standard is so low and what can we expect from other newspapers. How unfortunate we are!

So, Maos are holding Kathmandu hostage again?
