As the eulogy for victims of terrorist attacks resonates through USA, we are yet to
figure out what is the proper response for this attack. Even in Nepal, there has
been similar dilemma. The Nepal Police once scoured villages, summarily executed all
suspects in those villages for being Maoists, but couldn't wipe them out thoroughly.
Rather the citizens had to bear the brunt of such reckless move. It actually
grew counter productive since even people in cities started sympathizing with the rebels.Rest is story.

************-----------------------***************--------------------------

Nazibullah ruled Afganistan with the support of Soviet Union. People naturally hate
foreign intervention in every country, so Nazibullah was not very popular in Kabul.
His brother was nicknamed 'butcher of Kabul', and upon the fall of Kabul later in
1996,Taliban brutalized and hanged those two brothers from their refuge in UN
building. Even 'Time' cheered that.

Most of Nazibullah's years was boon for Kabulians. Kabul was beautiful and
peaceful. Nazibullah had given equal rights to women. He was trying to implement
land reform.Yes, equal right to women and land reform. Something we are trying to
do now in Nepal. But Moslem fundamentalists were opposed to such moves. CIA
trained the terrorists there. President Ronald Rogan , in his 1985 union of state
address, hailed the Muzibullahs as 'freedom fighters'.Those barbaric gangs were
laced with stingers and dollars. In early 1990s, I remember reading one article in
Newsweek that raised concern about those stingers in the hand of those terrorists.
Virtually, every plane flying above Pakistan was within the scope of those stingers,
and accidental shooting down of planes was what the paper was concerned about.

***************-------------------********************-----------------------

American armies once,in Persian Gulf, accidentally shot down one Iranian civilian
plane and killed around 300 planes in the late 80s. The Newsweek was concerned
about such repeatation. It just didn't think that such shot down could be willing
also.

In a concerned note, George Bush Jr ,after his ascend, intended to retract from
Kyoto agreement, wanted to nullify the 1972 Ballestic Missile test agreement with
USSR, and ,as cnn had reported just before this Sept 11 incident, was mulling to
test nuclear weapon again. US walked out of racism conference, much to the
chagrin of the rest of the world. The greatest lesson of 09/11 incident to the
current American leadership should be that the world is globalized now. It can't
avoid the responsibility that are incumbent because of its primal position in world
economy.

********************--------------------***********************--------------

Now, I sincerely hope that people won't tell me I should get out of US because I am
opposing capitalism:-) I am at most opposing current American leadership and its
senseless attitude. Now, as one fellow poster pointer out, they are talking about
presenting a bill in Capitol hill that allows INS to deport a person if it suspects he is
engaged in terrorist attack. Now, it is moment to say, wait a moment. Reason
should dictate response.

I have this final request to Ashu and whoever our anonymous posters are here,
please forget whatever the hell you guys went through previously. At least, please
don't make that public, national or international issue. I am tired of reading what
somebody's father is doing, or what you guys were fighting for in your highschool.

I mean people from all over the world read this site, and they would be reading
who is Sommervillean , who is this guy and that guy, and his /her father/husband
is!Are you guys any different from UML/Congress or not!

Also if you guys can't forget your past, and start building consensu, then what kind
of responsible future are you professing for the future of Nepal. What should we
expect if you guys ever become leaders of one political party? If you guys have
started grouping people in camps, well, that's your freedom:-)

I shall also appreciate if people address anonymous posters with their adopted
name rather than their suspected real name(rajesh, shailesh etc.) because that
justifies the freedom of anonymity, and won't hurt the persons who choose not
to reveal their name here.

Ashu doesn't have to worry about that either. Because, most of the time, I don't
believe what anonymous posters write here.Nobody really seriously takes those
one liners. I know I sound like preacher, and I am sorry about that, but I am
sure I have echoed the feelings of a lot of our readers.

I suppose Biswoji has picked up the point which is of interest in the frequent visitors of this site. Since I was one of the new member of this kurakani forum, I was always wondering why people are talking personal in this public forum. As a result many visitors have expressed that "this site is not at all interesting any more". Why is this happening?

There are many anonymous posters who want to keep them undisclosed. That does not mean all the anonymous posters want to write bad or personal. My personal thinking is that "better to keep anonymity than showing courage to personally thrash others in public forums." What a cool mind will evaluate your own status of mind, Huhn? Sometimes, it is less damaging to someone being criticized if the critique comes from an unkonwn, yet it will give opportunity to improve, if the person is smart enough to change.

By my points above, I am not supporting anyone making any personal comments using a pseudoname either. Whenever you have any disagreement with someone's writing, please disagree with his or her ideas, whether you use pseudoname or a real name. Please comment on what is written there than what his or her face/hand would look like; comment on what his or her contribution or damage to the society not what his father or grandfather did in the ancient time. If my father is an illiterate farmer in the hills, should my writing, my feeling, my outlook be always inferior to yours because your past two generations held good position in the government?

And who will decide who is writing in real name or who is not? How will you find if I, Gandhi Bhattarai, write in another name Ramesh Adhikari? Is that any different from using a pseudoname Musukka or Angryman? All what we need to have a positive mind towards each other. What you sow is what you reap.

Please feel to agree or disagree to my points.
