India's troops line Nepal border The Indian authorities say some 10,000 soldiers are being deployed along the country's 1,800km border with Nepal. A statement from the Indian embassy in Kathmandu, said the move is aimed at controlling cross-border terrorism and crime. India believes Pakistan-backed Kashmiri militants have been using Nepal as a base to carry out subversive activities by taking advantage of the open border, an allegation Nepal has repeatedly denied.
