Dear San:

What do you mean by "some other applications"? I didn't get it.

Hi Biswo, did you type in WORD or some other text editing application and copy paste over to the GBNC Browser to post? Some applications have different codes for line breaks and spaces and it might influence the posting.

Hi San,

I used to post with cut and paste from word application but it always retained the format. it is changed now because of the IP address :) ??

Hi NK, I've fixed it now. Sorry for the inconvenience..

No, San.

I always write in the text-box we have here .

I am copying and pasting (with proper line break) what I wrote just to test again:

This is a good friday, in deed :-)

People are relaxing, and this cyber-chautari is less scathing, less crowded. New
law has temporarily activated cyber-police to cope with web-terrorism(?), .Looks
like we decided this activation also by cyber-legislature and semi cyber-legislature.

On a friendly note, as I traversed through other neighboring cyber-centers,
specially www.nepalnews.com and www.kantipuronline.com, I found a lot of
information about our countrymates who are 20-hrs(jet speed) farther from
here.As I read nepali newspapers, I found two individuals prominent mentioned.
One for his buffonery, and irrational talks, and another for his serious patriotic
deeds.

Let's talk about first person. He is a lawmaker from a small left party. Among his
mahaabaani (Great quotation)

1. America is the greatest terrorist. So, New York bombing terrorists shouldn't be
condemned.[while opposing parlimentary voting to express 'humanatarian'
solidarity with victims.]

2."America IS terrorist. Letting USA use our land is the government scheme to
make Nepal American colony."[see today's Kantipur]

3." India's support [in assisting Nepal to fight terrorists] only means that they will
send their army to Nepal. It will impinge on our sovereignty."[see today's
Mahanagar. While commenting on Jaswant Singh's assertion that he is ready to
help Nepal government in fighting against terrorists]

Guess who is this firebrand lawmaker who obviously understands the world so
little? Lawmaker Lila Mani Pokharel. I respect his patriotism, but hey, it borders on
jingoism. It just doesn't make any sense. I have read his a lot more funny
comments in other occasions also, but let the matter rest here. We will see if he
will win election next time without any help from other liberal left parties like UML.

By the way, I don't know why the hell Sher Bdr had to announce that he is going
to provide space for USA even before US asked for that. We shouldn't polarize our
nation for nothing. All we needed to do was to cooperate with US, and tell US we
are with USA. We had done that unanimously in parliament already.
-----------------------------

The next person is Bharat Jangam. He is a great guy. I am so sorry I know so
little about him. I read his novel 'Kalo Surya' and 'Rato Surya' . I remember reading
his narration of China travel in a novel which is so intriguing, and the more you
read the more it grips you. He tells how he almost sold Boeing to government of
China, because one corrupt old Chinese officials saw prospect of commission in
such purchase. Bharat Jangam has filed numerous petitions in supreme court
about government decisions. He is our relentless civic right activist, and a
relentless watchman, and I remember reading in one Nepali paper about his
laundry lists of official misuse of government property.

Now , SC nullified what they say "MP-development fund". Dude, yea, sth like MP
development fund! Did we send MPs to spend money ,act sth like construction
contractor between treasury and people, or we sent them to make rule for the
nation? Why don't they say sth like executive member in stead of lawmaker?I am
always surprised why our MPs read so little about the bills prepared.(You can
argue they never developed habit of reading and imagining consequences of
those bills!) If Chitwan's MPs are example of typical MPs in Nepal, then man, I am
disappointed.

One MP once said, he gives shelter to local citizens who go to Kathmandu. So he
needs more money. So salary is low for them.So,.., so...,. One MP goes back to a
village being threatened by one turgid river, and takes out check from his pocket,
and says, well , I will give you this much money. Rest you collect and make the
damn dam. This kind of 'jamindaar' attitude of MPs was more fueled by increase in
such MP fund every year. The Mahaa Lekhaa Parikhshyan people have pointed
out that Girija, Sher Bdr etc gave their MP-fund to Srimadbhagabata Mahayagya
(or sth like that) organized in Tudikhel .

After the SC decision to ban such fund(or sth of that purpose), one lawmaker
from UML (MR Sidhdha Raj Gyawali) says, supreme court probably encroached upon legislative jurisdiction. Give me a break, dudes. Give you guys free hand, and you will leave us with chains and debts. Now use your brain, work hard and win
your constituents. Don't try to devise other tricks. There is no short cut to
progress and fame!

Someone had to stop this charade. SC did. Bharat Jangam
initiated this. Nepal can be beautiful by only those people who live in Nepal and
work to make it better. Foreigners/foreign based people are only secondary
indirect source.

San,
I was against releasing the IP, but certainly seems to have worked in deterrning offensive postings. But similar responses can be found elsewhere despite the IP display in effect and looks ineffective...How 'bout registering users with password to post anywhere in the site?
Regards.
Nobody Posted on 28-Sep-01 05:41 PM

saves my face too because I cannot be blamed for stealing somebody else's ID :-)
nobody Posted on 28-Sep-01 05:45 PM

Well I always create some bogus e-mail address. How about sending a confirmation mail to the e-mail address provided and remove the posting if that bounces? I definitely don't mind using my e-mail ID as long as i know it's a norm...
