>Maoists to release all abducted policemen, other details

>The underground Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) has announced that it
>would release all abducted policemen and others from their captivity. The
>strongman of Maoist party Comrade Prachanda (Puspa Kamal Dahal) issued a
>statement Friday saying that his party would release all from their “custody”
>keeping in mind the demand and desire of the people.

>In an unconfirmed report, 81 Nepalese including maoist leader Prachanda and
>others have been arrested by the Indian police in Silguri. This has yet to be

It is good that Maoists are showing their positive attitude towards the peace talks and are trying to get a safe landing. Let's hope government and the moists will reach a conclusion in their third meeting sometime within the next fortnight.

However, the second news, if it is true (yet to confirm) might turn whole thing into different situation. I following points came to my mind while reading this:

1. Though maoists are terrorizing Nepal with their murderous deed, they have not done any crime in Indian soil yet. Since Nepali people have no restriction to travel to India, why should anyone be arrested? Is any meeting and rally banned on that soil?

2. Indian minister term maoists as terrorists and Indian government deploys army on the border, while Nepal government is still having talks with the maoists. At home it is still a political problem (maoists not officially declared terrorists) and the government is realeasing them on mutual exchange of captives. Why should they be arrested in India?

3. The talk is still continued and Nepal government is trying to solve the problem by peaceful means. Keeping all the border disputes (Mechi, Kalapani and so on), differences on the view about bilateral trade, transit problems etc. at a corner, what India wants to impose to Nepal by this?

Just an idea to exchange among us.
