Hi Ashu:

I am writing this message again - in essence, thrilled that I finally have a GBNC code and new name. Just been re-christened. From Upperwestside to VillageVoice. Since the New York location has already been booked by a fellow poster.

Ashu had announced in this forum that he was planning to bring out a magazine (?) with economic focus. He argued, quite convincingly, that most economic writing in Nepal are too technical, and heavy for the reading public to enjoy. Say unlike how Economist presents its news.

That was a very bold announcement. Wondering how far have the plans developed? Just as GP remarked, I too am looking forward to the plans to materialize.

Good luck.

As an aside, I would urge GBNC, and San, to monitor the traffic closely. Should there be any drop in the trffic volume, GBNC should revise its decision immediately. I consider the code and registration an uncalled for move on your part, which may unnecessarily deter potential posters. But let's first wait and see how it goes. I am all for, as someone said, freedom of speech with a pinch of accountability. Let's just hope there are enough posters to account.

I think there's been a little misunderstanding here. Noone is required to register to post. Only difference is the ID which gives you an individual identity - without giving out any other info - essentially keeping your identity anonymous.

Hi VillageVoice/UWS,

No, I was NOT thinking of a full-length magazine . . . more like a monthly or
a fortnightly newsletter in simple, clear English on business/finance/public policies/economy.

As I have explained elsewhere on this kurakani section, plans are afoot to bring such a newsletter out by late this Fall or early next year. One person who will
be working closely with me on this is: Dr. Narayan Manadhar whose expertise
is labor economics.

Once the newsletter is out, I will surely make an announcement here.
