I don't know if the following news was ever posted here earlier by anyone but I just wanted to share Manisha Koirala's info. on the Father of the Nation (Of Nepal, ofcourse). Late King Tribhuvan, as far as I Know, is/used to be commonly addressed as the Rashtrapita (father of the nation).

"The film is planned on a grand scale, something on the lines of Gandhi by Richard Attenbourgh. After all he is the Father of the Nation in Nepal, and he brought about a revolution in the country, so I feel the world should know about his personality," said Koirala. <------- Taken from the last paragraph of this following news in Times of India.

Well, you learn new thing everyday.

Manisha to make film on grandpa

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

epal and India will kiss and make up very soon. And it's through a film, to be produced by actress Manisha Koirala, based on the life of her grandfather, the late B P Koirala, who was the first democratic Prime Minister of Nepal and founder of the Nepali Congress.

The political saga will be financed by the Nepali Congress Committee, based in Nepal, and it will be shot at locations like Benares, Patna, and a few other places in Nepal. Actors from both countries, as well as those of international repute, will star in the movie. "The lead role has not been finalised. It could be a Nepali, or an Indian actor," confirms the actress.

This production will be one of the biggest movies to be made in Nepal. "The film is planned on a grand scale, something on the lines of Gandhi by Richard Attenbourgh. After all he is the Father of the Nation in Nepal, and he brought about a revolution in the country, so I feel the world should know about his personality," said Koirala. The late Nepali prime minister was a close friend of Jawaharlal Nehru, the then PM of India, and Jayprakash Narayan. The film will also trace the Nepal's close association with India.

Nepali Congress Making Movie?

Not a big deal. Everybody is actor there.

Remember BP Koirala award conferred to Nelson Mandela?

>Nepali Congress Making Movie?

With the Nepali Congress Party (gasp, choke!) behind the making of this film,
what I would expect is a three-hour or so of uncritical and cloyingly sweet bhajan/hagiography on the life and times of BPK.

Too bad that Manisha could not line up private financiers to cover the movie ko expenses.

As a Nepali citizen, I now would also expect more of such films soon -- using more of PUBLIC money -- about the life and times each of, say, Pushpa Lal, Ganesh Man, Madan Bhandari and the rest.

Not satisfied with only that, then our politicians further bore the rest of us by forcing NTV and other TV channels to repeatedly show these 'mahaan'
movies . . .

Can somebody please find out if there's a long line outside Daddy Prakash Koirala's house for a role in the movie. Wait till the Tika? Bichara Kishunji (no Manisha to look after) also deserves a movie. Some karyakarta is going to make that proposal soon. Maybe, Deuba himself.

But what great actors we have. Good ole Girija Babu, Nona Bhauju, Prakash, Sasank, Shailaja Bhanji, and their chhora, buhari, chhori, jwai, vinaju, bhadai, sala, sali, jethi sasu...There are some foreign casts too. There is this German guy - married to Sujata - and one of them is married to Pakistani? Manisha's own Mum is said to be a very colorful character.

No wonder Kangressis gloat and gloat over all these.

Why just a three-hour movie. I see a serial of epic proportions?

>After all he is the Father of the Nation in Nepal.
I don't admit that.

The only person closest of being father of the nation of modern Nepal is Prithvi
Narayan Shah.

Some of BP's moves have actually weakened our nationality.

But the key of this news is not that. This is "How Nepali Congress is taking advantage of BP's name?" This movie melaa, this BP Koirala international peace prize, what are they?
