For those who remember him sobbing in rastriya
panchayat while railing against corruption, and for
those who remember him decrying all power centers in
his verbal pyrotechnics since decades ago in KTM, Padma
Ratna Tuladhar remains as a person of chutzpah, virtue
and statesmanship.

That this same politician is a also an embodiment of
duplicity, and irresponsible politics may sound
outrageous to his followers/believers.

Though I have only strident criticism to offer to corrupt,
and teetering Girija government, I have a grave concern
about the overall political role that Padma Ratna
Tuladhar and his masquerade of neutralism and
disinterestedness is playing in current and past political
conflict of the nation.

The latest episode of Dinesh Sharma is something where
his duplicity is equally exposed as that of
government's temerity and foolishness.I can not believe
that by releasing the two rebels, the government has
vitiated the environment for talks, though government
was extremely wrong in organizing the press conference.
I also believe that it was unconstitutional for
government to keep the rebel in custody for so long. But
their release was a good aspect, a step forward to talk
not the step backward.Rebels ,afterall, shouldn't
expect to be released with felicity.

Here all Maoists are doing is offering a sophisticated
martial tactic to an ignoramus government, the government
that is an assembly of thugs and feckless leaders. The
government, which is unfortunately positioned there to
safegurad the civil rights of Nepalese citizen, has not
only been unable to fully guarantee them, but
has increasingly evinced its nonchalance about them. And
Maoists, who has yet to prove that they are not like
their brethrens in China,Laos, and E Germany are winning
this war, along with the support of the same
intellectuals who they will never care to respect once
they assume the power(if they will).

Padma Ratna's recent sobbing in interviews are
manifestation of his fealty to the Maoists. He better
stick to his mediator's role and steer the process
of dialogue forward , so that the nation doesn't lurch
along the precarious road of governance in the future.
His sobbing are not only duplicitious, they are also
confusing to nation and Nepalese people. And hey, they
are always capable of inveigling the support of liberal
intellectuals of KTM,benefitting rebels.
