We are planning to have a deusi vahilo karekram here in Boston. The money we get from this will go to Red Cross as a relief fund. What do you think??

You may set different locations for Deusi Bhailo and write to different individuals and other organizations to come to see and contribute by donating whatever amount they can. You may like to make them clear why you want their contribution and how much you target to collect. Individuals will calculate how much they need to contribute. Any cash and kind could be accepted and later handed over to the Red Cross. This was a small idea which we used in Nepal to generate half the amount to purchase an ambulance in our village (another half was received from charitable grants of different NGOs/INGOs, the organization's own development fund + duty consession by the government). We had Deusi during Tihar and Sadak Natak in other periods to increase the awareness among the fellow villagers. From their generous contribution, now an ambulance is stand by on the garage of VDRC which serves about 15,000 - 20,000 people in its viscinity.
