Hi G.P, Where did you find this posting? This brings back lots of fond memories. It's been only three years or so since I lost touch with Bhupendra. I lost his and many other friends' email and other addresses altogether when my email accounts were famously hacked into. Bhupendra, who went to Princeton as an undergrad after completing high school from St. Xavier's and from DC, remains one of the smartest and the funniest Nepalis I have ever met in my life. The stuff he used to write for The Godavarian, the school magazine, was always of high quality - both in terms of humor and style. I remember how he and I -- dreaming of places like Harvard, MIT and the rest -- used to exchange vocabulary cards everyday at St. Xaver's to prepare for the SAT verbal. And that was THREE Years before we actually took the damn SATs!! Thanks to those relentless practice sessons then, both SATs, GREs and other such exams ended up being quite a breeze for both of us -- years later. There is much I have learnt from Bhupendra, and I last saw him in Boston when he came to visit me. It's be great to renew contacts with him. oohi ashu ktm, nepal

Thanks for this info, GP. Robin, I just visited chakrapath.com, and it's quite impressive!! I loved the "parties in NYC" section. Keep up the good work; time-permitting, I too will contribute stuff. oohi ashu ktm, nepal

Ashu! How in the name of the good lord are you? Wow! This place is teeming. I thought GBNC was defunct a few years ago. Obviously I was mistaken. What are you doing with yourself these days? I met some people in medical school who met you at Harvard. You might not remember them. One of them was Carlo De Antonio. He is a pediatrician now. I myself am in LA. But let us not use this public forum. Can you e-mail me at the above address? God it is good to see that you are doing well. And may I say that your language skills are amazing. Sometimes I don't even understand what you are saying, until I read the sentence again. Bhupendra

>What are you doing with yourself these days? Hey Bhup, Well, you know, I had come back to Nepal for what I thought was for a few weeks last year. But as things turned out, quite happily now that I think about it, I ended up saying 'no thanks' to my then quite lucrative investment banking job offer in New York City!! I stayed in Nepal then to assist my friends (Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary and others) who were then heading this Social Movement in Kathmandu and Dhangadi to free Bonded Laborers (Kamaiyas). I figured that, with my credentials, efforts and networking, I could always go back to investment banking or management consulting or stuff like that anywhere for the rest of my life later, but a chance to work on and learn from a living, breathing social movement in Nepal was an opportunity of a life -time -- NOT to be walked away from. And that has made all the difference in my life. And the whole work (lasting until this past February) humbled me in that I became all the more aware of how little of anything I knew and know, and how hard it is to bring about changes in Nepal, but, even then, how immensely satisfying even small efforts at making positive changes in Nepal can be. And so, one lives and learns -- while trying to have fun. >I met some people in medical school who met >you at Harvard. You might not remember them. >One of them was Carlo De Antonio. He is a >pediatrician now. Sure, I remember Carlo all right. We suffered through organic chemistry (Chem 17 and Chem 27) together :-) Anyway, I will be sending Carlo an email; and will tell him about other old friends I recently caught up with in Europe. God, when you think about it, isn't our world a really small place? >And may I say that your language skills are >amazing. Sometimes I don't even understand >what you are saying, until I read the >sentence again. You are as funny as ever, Mr. Wasserkopf :-) More on private emails. oohi ashu ktm, nepal

Mr. Ashu, you said on your last posting that you're going to use a private email to talk to your friend. Please kindly do so, before you get my nerve. Thank you.

THIS ASHU DUDE, YOU ARE SO SAD AND CONCEITED. WHAT MAKES YOU THINK WE ARE INTERESTED IN YOUR GOD DAMN LIFE HISTORY. DON'T YOU HAVE ANY SENSE OF PRIVACY OR DO YOU LIKE TO GLOAT IN PUBLIC. IF THERE IS ONE THING YOU SHOULD HAVE LEARNED AT HARVARD IT IS UNDERSTATEMENT. YOU SURELY DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT CONCEPT. YOU SHOULD TAKE THIS TIME IN NEPAL TO VISIT A PSYCHIATRIST. YOU WILL FIND THAT MEDICAL COSTS ARE MUCH CHEAPER THERE AND SINCE YOU DECIDED AGAINST YOUR I-BANKING JOB YOU COULD DO WITH SOME CHEAP BUT NECESSARY MEDICAL CARE. GBNC SEND YOU ITS BEST REGARDS AND WE WILL HOPE YOU WILL KEEP US INFORMED ABOUT YOUR MENTAL PROGRESS.

Thanks guys for your emotional fireworks. I fully expected them, and, in the name of entertainment, was just enjoyed a good laugh. I appreciate your fully expressing your uncensored, raw emotions here. Dassain, after all, let us NOT forget, is a festival in which we celebrate, among others, the victory of Truth over lies, lies and lies :-) A very Happy Dassain to you all. oohi ashu ktm, nepal

Bhupendra, Rather, you reap what you sow in some cases. Cheers For people concerned with ID#s. Please refer to my posting to San about the same people logging in from different locations. And for any of you people concerned about my mental health i.e. posting on a Sunday, this early in the morning - if people in Nepal can log in during Dasain, the time save thingy is a BIG EXCUSE. :) Cheers Again
