Is anyone out there aware of any Orthopaedic (Bone/Spine and Musculoskeletal) -related outreach clinics in any part of Nepal? Specifically those originating in America, and which may be held on an annual basis or such. Examples of such outreach clinics are the Shriners Hospital for Children, the AO/ASIF Synthes Orthopaedic outreach clinics, etc (these I am not sure have clinics in Nepal).

While I was in Nepal 2 years ago, a large group of ortho doctors from Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles held a clinic at Kathmandu Medical College. I am not sure if they do it on an annual basis.

I would suggest you contact people at the America Nepal Medical Foundation: http://www.anmf.net/
I recently met an American doctor involved with ANMF at a Nepali function and she mentioned that she was involved in such clinics. I believe her name is Libby Wilson.

Thanks Riti. I know Libby Wilson. She is actually an ENT surgeon based out of Orthopaedic Hospital in Los Angeles. She does mostly cleft palates, but she does travel with orthopaedic surgeons at times. But those other websites are a fantastic resource.
Gracias.

I am a plastic surgeon at the TU Teaching Hospital and presently in Sanfransisco and have been working with Dr. Libby Wilson for the last three years.I completed four months of fellowship with various plastic surgeons and Dr. Wilson in Los Angeles. She is a plastic surgeon heading the cleft lip and palate program at the Orthopaedic Hospital in Los Angeles. She comes to Nepal every year with her team Karing for Kids(KFK) and operates cases of cleft lip and palate at the Western Regional Hospital, Nepalgunj. I have been with her as the Nepali plastic surgeon. The next visit is planned for March 2002 and I will be working with her as I will be returning to Nepal in the end of Jan 2002. She does not operate orthopaedic cases, any plastic surgery cases can be done when she is in Nepal or at the Teaching Hospital after I return. It has been a great experience learning the nuances of plastic surgery in Los Angeles and Sanfransisco. This will help me a lot in providing better plastic surgery service in Nepal.

Dr Lohani:

Nice to make your acquaintance. I am an orthopaedic surgeon in residency in Los Angeles. I tried to e-mail you privately through this board, but it didn't work. Can you please try to e-mail me back (privately) by replying to this message. I am interested in outreach clinics in Nepal. (PS I am a Nepali).
