When we talk about declaring a heir to a country's throne we need to finalize on our objectives. Do we really want a mature caliber king to contribute to the institutalization of monarchy and to regaining its deeming popularity or just a king for the sake of monarchy. Even for a small business when the manager is full of skill and ability , it makes a radical difference. Here we are talking of giving a position of King to a person notorious for all of his unethical rowdy behavior. Lets keep his fascination to girls, prostitutes, drugs and alcohol aside, lets also keep his reckless driving aside and concentrate on one - his attitude towards the countrymen. When i was in kathmandu and a regular goer to disco and some of the ice cream parlors and fast food chains, i had an unpleasing encounter with paras's attitudes. I dont think he should be proud of something that he never contributed. Even long before the royal slain he would declare himself as a raja implying to the transient accession of gynendra to throne during rana regime. Then he would consider himself superior to all nepalis. He always misused the immense army power that royal family has been enjoying as a privilege. Paras never understood that he is a prince its because we allow him to be a prince. So instead of being respectful and grateful to the citizen he would just simply take them for granted. If he had "ri sani bhaibaksyo", he could shoot any one, kill anyone.

Back in america we are talking of his drunk driving record to suspension from school to deportation. We are wondering how difficult it would be for paras to win the international reputation. i think its an impossible task for paras. He is ideal to be a medieval king like some of his predecessors whose ultimate aim in life was to drink and to have sex and to have fun. I dont think he can represent nepal in an international arena and retain the reputation birendra and dipendra had as an intellectual. Owing to the managerial capability to run a lot many organizations, gyanendra could turn into a good king. But he lost his "bachekhucheko" respect by this shrewed act of declaration of a royal heir during dashain. He could wait till paras"s son or daughter turn to legal age, train them, educate them and declare a heir to throne. If England can afford not to hastily hand over the nation to prince Charles who is proclaimed for his intellect and taste of life, why should we be in hurry to hand over the throne to a maniac. Afterall if gyanendra died before all of this happened, paras would be declared king by raj parishad. I was so determined to go back to nepal after my studies here in the US, but now I wonder how safe I will be in a country with 50000 army headed by a maniac king who thinks that he can kill anyone for any reason, any where anytime. PASHUPATI NATH LE HAMI SABAIKO KALYAN GARUN.

Nepali raja rani should learn how sensitive people are towards their offspring's behavior. They should keep their eyes open and learn how chelsea clinton maintained the low profile when her father was the strongest man in the world. even Bush is doing the same except occassional under age drinking. Paras should know that he is vusuna when compared to other really strong people . But habbits die hard. HE IS A LOSER but blessed with immense KHApPAR TUNITY( that is bau of opportunity)

I think dipendra was no better, the only difference was he had a nice reputation in public. I have not forgotten his gundagardi when i was attending oxford. LAter i knew about his chartikala in austarlia, he was actually after hookers. so both of them are same. Jo jogi pani kan chireko

Nepal needs a fresh start. I don't see any need to continue with a monarchy that has not done anything to help the Nepali people. Why should the Nepali people pay the king and queen and Paras so they can enjoy life while the Nepali people eke out a meager existence? If the King and Queen of Nepal can demonstrate unequivocally that we are getting positive returns on the investment the Nepali people make to them, then only will the monarchy existence be worthwhile. If they cannot prove their worth to the Nepali people, we cannot afford to spend money so they can enjoy life while the Nepali people toil under the smog.
