[“Before my eyes, I lost all
What did my helpless eyes have to see.
My luckless eyes,
Their luckless ears,
They believe what they hear
Not what they see." ]

I say it is never too late to hate somebody if one chooses to do so. If I am disgusted by Paras Shah’s motor vehicle homicide, womanizing, treating the Kingdom as his “bau ko birta” (or maybe it is or that is why he was acting as such…), I have every right to question his ascendant to the throne. For the purpose of living peacefully I may want to forgive and go on. Mind you, the sole purpose of forgiving is my selfishness not a sudden change of heart or my magnanimity. But, nobody, and I repeat nobody should tell me I should forget what happened. Now he writes a five-line poem according to Kanak Dixit and he sees Paras Shah becoming a beautiful swan from ugly duckling. Because he started “to write poetry he must be mending his ways (!)” [The emphasis and exclamation is mine]. Well, what do you know? If you kill somebody tomorrow start writing poetry folks, that may change your status from murder/rapist to a poet. You don’t believe me? Ask Kanak Dixit. He seems to know what we instinctively reject. Also, I would like to see more of his work. Not just 6-line verse that comes out of nowhere and makes us (at least me) confused to whom Paras Shah is referring to when he says “they?” In the 4th line he seems to be talking about the murdered royalty then when you read the 6th line he is clearly talking about the Nepali janta. Or is he talking about the Nepali people when he says “their luckless ears?” And why are our ears “luckless?” Because we had to hear what we heard? I can see the unlucky buggers who got murdered from the hand of the deranged Prince. But what has luck to do with us, the Nepali people? Please enlighten me Kanak Dixit or somebody who knows poetry. I am stumped.

Since the talk started from poetry I could not help myself but write:

I am so wretched and gleeful
Even I myself am so ashamed,
Oh! dear brother,
I need somebody to alleviate me
From this misery
From gun totting killer to
The title of Maha Kabi.

(As you all know I write better that this ;) but since i had to write about Paras Shah I could not do better that this. My apology, Tons of it!)

My convoluted logic by extension leads me to a (conspiracy) theory. The evidence I present:

1. Nepali Times (of Kunda Dixit) gets huge ad revenues from a tobacco company, formerly financed by the present king.

2. Nepali Times was the first media to break the news of Narayanhiti massacre before the government made it public.

3. Kunda Dixit is all praises for Paras Shah, and his poetry.

These don't necessarily prove anything by themselves. Or maybe they do.

.. a small addition which I missed: Read: "...but since i had to write about Paras Shah and *his chakriwallah* I could not write better than this..."

Dear NK:

I won't be surprised if you will be asked to be a hack for Paras.Poems in Madhupark
Garima Samakaalin Sahitya TKP everywhere in the name of Paras::

See my fellow citizens,
My eyes were sad to see the death of the taxi-driver,
but alas, he was the one who rammed his car
in my poor SUV.

My luckless ears
were reluctant to hear the proclamation of crownprincehood
from my beloved father.

But they had to hear.

My hands were sad, and trimbling
when I gave that 'black substance'
[The substance component of which even highpowered comission didn't find]
to the infatuated Dipendra.

I am sad my fellow contrymen
that my freedom to roam around discotheques have been taken away.
But fret not,
I will be king one day.
Your king will be in your doorsteps,
ramming your gets with his car/SUVs,
and driving his car himself.

And subsequent titles for Dixit brothers:

"Great poet Paras pens another masterpiece." [Accompanied by photo of Paras
writing a poem below the picture of Mahakabi Devkota. It will be great if some
of our upstart authors write condemning piece about Devkota's writing!]

"Great king Paras visits (not rams) another house incognito in the midnight"[Paras
under his hat photo]

"Jaya Maharaj Paras. He paid 1,00,000 for the one killed yesterday by unknown
driver."[Paras gleefully throwing notes in the air]

"People are grateful that our king pays so much money for victims of unknown
road accident."[guess yourself]

"Nyaaya Napaaya Gorkhaa Jaanu,
(Kohi Road accdient maa Marepachhi) Paisa napaaye Narayanhiti Jaanu"
And finally
"Considerate of driver's right, king paras asks pariament to make DUI legal. Those
who can drive 100 miles under DUI will be awarded Suprasiddha Prabal Paras
Daxin Baahu"

etc etc.

[This whole posting is intended for fun. May suit lighter side.]

DiwasK

you have a point. nani dekhya lagya bani...

as some posters posted it their fortune was made from the great jagadamba maharani's give away, so maybe the young generation is under the impression hey, let's make the hay while there a sunshine (or something like that). It may be grossly unfair to say this about dixit family but i cannot help it at the moment. I am angry. Angry because the complete disregard King Gyanendra has for the public's sentiment, angry because the short memory of Kanak Dixit, angry becuase some apologist who pressure people to forget what happened not 100 years ago not 10000 years ago, not 50 years ago, but what happened in less that 7 years ago.

and biswo, your posting was funny. but you know, i wanted to write something that would show my seething anger at the current development regarding paras but did not come out as intended. oh well maybe there will be another opportunity...

What qualification does Paras have other than that he is the only successor? Why is it worth prolonging such a medieval institution such as monarchy, especially under the present condition when the leadership of monarchy is questionable? How can we justify the logic: There is no alternative. Of course there is a viable alternative. Just count the number of countries that have monarchy. We could definitely do without one as well.
