Hi,

Look at the bio data of our future king Paras Shash in nepalnews.com. Looking at it, he is not even fit to become a manager of a company, forget about the king. Boy, I really hate this monarchy sytem now.

Thanks

It's time to get rid of this white elephant called monarchy in Nepal. The latest development should unite majority of Nepalese to overthrow the outdated institution.

What is the alternative leadership in a country constantly betrayed by lay leaders who make promises only to break them, again and again in more and more aggregious manner? Call me old fashioned but the monarchy gives a semblance of unity which I feel is completely lacking in Nepal right now. The discussions generated by Subash Gurung illustrated how deep the ethnic/caste distrusts run. The maoist movement shows the chasm between the disenfranchised who feel they have to resort to savagery to fight for economic and political opportunity. One coudl go on.

I am not saying anything about Paras... I have not seen his bio and trust people have valid reasons for the animosity expressed towards him. But what is then going to unite the country? Who? I don't see anyone or thing stepping up to bridge the gap in leadership. If not the Monarchy what then? The maoist? Girija, Deuba, the UML... I for onw am not goign to put my trust in this bunch of opportunistic, money mongering, desh bechne pimps either.

I dint have any expectation when i began lookin at our future raja rani's biodata. But it was stricking to see the similarities in paras's and himani's achievements so far. ram milae jodi ek .....

As nepalikt suggested, monarchy has been the symbol of belief and unity ( so far) for a culturally diverse population like Nepal. If we refer to the history Nepal was still in the medieval brutal regime of Shaha and rana when rest of the world has already begun uprooting the feudal system. When a majority of population is uneducated and politically unaware , establishment and institutionalization of monarchy is inevitable.. lato deshma gando tanneri...But as a contry progresses it starts questioning the ability of the leader which follows some revolutionary changes which may be a subtle one like that of 1991 Nepal or a violent one like that of Iran or Afganistan. In history no one , no one is indispensable. When we curtailed the hand of Birendra thru 1991 constitution, it was one step ahead in the path of saying NO Thanks to king. I think in context to the then senario, that was the right decision people made.

This is the time government should seriously invest on education and awareness. what we need is an educated and aware Nepali population which can think and reason the need of monarchy. This would greatly depend on the behavior and efficiency of political parties. Despite wretched behavior of leaders and parties there have been some positive impacts on economics and politics after the dawn of democracy.

Lets wait for that time when we have a nepali population which is no more crushed under the conventional loyalty to the royal, who is independently able to analyse the pros and cons of monarchy. Then people will definitely question Paras's ( or any Tom, Dick or Harry) ability to be a raja. Unlike present scenario when many Ashus say that there is no alternative other than obey the royal decree, the time will definitely compel many rajkumar to prove themselves capable.

My bottomline is lets not give this movement up, lets continue our voice and concern about vavi raja. Lets demand our constitutional right to know whats going on from palace to parliament. Lets openly discuss the royal move. I am pretty sure paras must be aware of this site thru his sebs buddies. Let him know what an educated mass feel about him and make him understand that he can not solely rule exploiting the medieval feudalism. Let him know that what we want from our so called future king. I think together we can make a diffrence.

The way I see it, Paras as Crown Prince is a win-win situation.

Pro-monarchy folks get the possibility of having at least one more Shah king.

Anti-monarchy folks get a widely criticized CP, who--they will argue--further weakens Nepal's monarchy.
