Hi all,

The person who posted in the name of "tirthajiiswrong" got my points correctly.
And I thank the poster for such good sense. I appreciate it.

Re: Paras, I, as a citizen living and breathing in Kathmandu, have now
accepted -- uneasily, unhappily and regretfully -- that there is NOTHING you,
or I or anyone else can do about him now, except hope that, despite his past,
he turns out all right.

This acceptance does NOT mean that we all HAVE TO accept him as the
Crown Prince wholeheartedly or that we all should now HAVE to sing his
bhajan in public.

It simply means, AS A MATTER OF STRATEGY, that I, for one, -- unlike some of you here -- am not going to waste my time banging my head against the wall
on this, and that's really that.

After all, what has been decided, has been decided, and it's time to move
on -- again, uneasily, unhappily and regretfully. As John F. Kennedy famously put it, "hey, who said life is fair?"

On another note, ee Nepali janata did have excellent chances (massive public support and all that) to nail Paras last year.

But let's now be HONEST ENOUGH to admit that we blew our chances then.

Following these stupid (in my opinion) Leftist Leaders, our approach was so
half-assed, half-baked, naive, emotionally-laden that ultimately -- no surrpise --
got NO results!!).

I mean, what the hell were we thinking? That being indignant/angry/pissed off enough was going to get results? Come on!! In retrospect, we needed to be a
lot smarter and a lot more strategic than that.

And so, my conclusion is that we Nepali janata have no one but ourselves to
blame for this Paras mess, and, I, for one, FULLY accept my share of the blame
as one of the then 500,000 petitioners.

As for the King -- as much as I disliked his decsion -- I am truly impressed with
his POLITICAL ability to PUSH this potentially controversial action without
rousing, so far, any noticeable controversy.

I am speechless by the King's sheer guts, sheer confidence, and, having seen that, now can only hope and pray that our elected politicians can match him in terms of strategic skills, political finesses and a great sense of timing.

Finally, the Sanskrit word for politics is: Raj Niti.
And, hey, in its purest sense, what IS Raj Niti, but the employment of
"the best of strategy"?

I hope I have made myself all more clear.

One visible FINANCIAL beneficiary of Paras's becoming Crown Prince has been
good old The Kantipur Publications.

The number of expensively "congratulatory" advertizements that Kantipur and
The Kathmandu Post have collected and published (re: Paras) since Vijaya
Dashami is simply stunning.
