Hi all, Taking time off from our ususal work, our Martin Chautari friends manage to put out this Kathmandu Post Review of Books (KPRB) twice every month. Basically, this is an attempt to REGULARLY publish seven to nine essays/reviews of high-quality written by Nepalis and friends of Nepal from all over. Books need NOT be about Nepal per se. As such, we are ALWAYS looking for new writers, new reviewers, and so on. Thanks to this Web site, two of the regular posters here have contributed reviews to the KPRB in the last several months, and, I hope, more will consider contributing essays and reviews. If you wish to contribute reviews/essays and so on, please send an email to Martin Chautari Organization at: chautari@mos.com.np For details, check out: http://www.emory.edu/COLLEGE/AS/sinhas/kprb.html oohi ashu ktm, nepal

Hi Ashu: What is the time frame here? Is this an annual event? monthly? quarterly? When is the next review coming out and when is the deadline for submission?

Can we review any type of book? For example, if I want to review a recent essay from the "Foreign Affairs" magazine, is the TKP Review of Books likely to publish it? ...And can the reviewer review old books or are only reviews of new books published in the TKPRB? For example, let's say, if I review Sam Huntington's "The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order", or Paul Kennedy's "The Rise and Fall of Great Powers: Economic Change and Military Conflict 15000-2000", or Tom Friedman's "The Lexus and the Olive Tree", or Benjamin Barber's "Jihad vs McWorld," is the TKPRB likely to publish reviews of such not-so-new books?

Hi guys: What is the time frame here? Ans: The Review of Books is published TWICE a month, on the second and the last Sunday of every Ebglish month on the whole of page 4 of The Post. Each issue contains about three to five essays and reviews. Is this an annual event? monthly? quarterly? Ans: Since April 1996, it's been coming out every month; and since 1998, it's been coming out two times every month. When is the next review coming out and when is the deadline for submission? Ans: You can submit your articles via email ANY TIME. If you wish to send them to me, my address is: ashutosh@post.harvard.edu Since the Review will be published in December, January and so on and on, what does not get published now can get published in later months. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Can we review any type of book? For example, if I want to review a recent essay from the "Foreign Affairs" magazine, is the TKP Review of Books likely to publish it? Ans: Why not? Sure. ...And can the reviewer review old books or are only reviews of new books published in the TKPRB? For example, let's say, if I review Sam Huntington's "The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order", or Paul Kennedy's "The Rise and Fall of Great Powers: Economic Change and Military Conflict 15000-2000", or Tom Friedman's "The Lexus and the Olive Tree", or Benjamin Barber's "Jihad vs McWorld," is the TKPRB likely to publish reviews of such not-so-new books? Ans. Yes. Those are all controversal but intellectually engaging books, and I am impressed by your such selections. Yes, by all means, review any of those books and send your reviews to us. Though NONE of us work for The Kathmandu Post, we are all interested in using it as a foum (twice a month) to discuss books and ideas . Lke I said, we have been doing this since 1996. Thank you for or interest. oohi ashu ktm, nepal
