One of four children ate the last piece of pizza. When questioned they responded as follows: Joan said "I didn't eat it." Ken said "Leo ate it." Leo said "Martha ate it." Martha said "Leo is lying." If only one of the four children lied, who ate the last piece of pizza?

Obviously the liar is either Martha or Leo. Suppose Martha is a liar. Since she said Leo is lying, Leo is not lying. That means Martha ate it . But Ken is not a liar and he says Leo ate it. So Martha can not be a liar. Suppose Leo is the Liar so Martha did not eat it. Since all the rest are not liars, Ken must be telling the truth as well. He says Leo ate. So Leo MUST HAVE EATEN.

Ken ate the last piece of pizza. While everyone is in argument over who ate it and making accusations, he is the only person without a controversy. Joan in neutral. Ken accuses Leo. Leo accuses Martha. Martha corrects Leo. But who accuses Ken? No one. Definitely the guilty one. I can see the trail of guilt in his face :o)

Joan = true Ken = true Leo = false Martha = true True : False = 3 : 1 Thus, Leo ate the pizza.

>Joan = true Correct >Ken = true Not necessarily. He is accusing Leo, but who is backing him up? No one. >Leo = false How so? He is accusing Martha as Ken was accusing him. >Martha = true Again, not necessarily. Martha is just defending herself. But, she is definitely not accusing Ken. > >True : False = 3 : 1 The only person we can remove from the guilty list is Joan. Three others are inconclusive. So, the ratio is incorrect. >Thus, Leo ate the pizza. That's just based on what Ken said. So, while everyone comes to light about defending their innocence, no one mentions Ken. Ken has to be the guilty party here.

If it was Pizza Hut, then Leo ate the last piece If it was Domino's, then Joan was the one who ate the last pizza If it was Petrillo's, then it must have been Leo Martha does not like Pizza so she is not the one.
