When prince Charles was hit by one tearaway girl in Riga, Latvia somedays ago,
the police immediately took her to prison. However, the prince later requested
to the Latvian government that the girl be forgiven.(The crime was punishable by
maximum of 15 years in jail.)

Somewhat more grave incident occured in Nepal. In one unfortunate incident,
former prime minister Girija Koirala's vehicle was hit by one mini tata truck, but
nobody was seriously injured. Mr Koirala escaped unscathed, according to the
reports in Nepali papers. The driver of the vehicle was somebody called Devendra
Tamang.Local activists thrashed Mr Tamang and the helper Sanjib Tamang.

But what? immediately after that unfortunate incident, Nepali Congress MPs and
other activists appealed for a maximum sentence to the guilty, and investigation
etc etc. They sounded like they were seeing big conspiracy behind that.

Point no 1: Such incidents are investigated by police routinely. If these dudes are
asking for investigation (most of these have been minister already also), then
it is because they know that none of traffic mishaps in Nepal get investigated
properly without a collective call/push for that.As they say, a snake sees the leg
of another snake.

Point 2: But aren't those people who beat these poor khalasi/drivers also culpable?

Point 3: Wasn't former PM Girija supposed to save those people by being beaten?

Point 4: Can he show mercy to those people, rather than asking for strident
punishment? Like prince Charles did. Why should he and other congressis
be so vindictive?

It is our traffic rule that is generating these mishaps. We need to address the
problem at its core.

I think Girija Prasad Koirala should thank the Driver that the Driver
did not kill him by next round crash because the cost of Ausadhopachar
was cheaper in girija prasad's case (because he was only hurt, but,
not injured) compared to crushing him by rolling wheels after accident
which is most famous (yes, its FAMOUS method within Drivers) method
of solving problems and also easy method of closing files for Police,
by turning a simple injuries to death. It happened not very long time
back, but, a few days back in Koteswor.

The best way of teaching the Kangressies about road accident
and deliberate killing just to avoid medical costs for injuries, because
it is I guess the rule created and maintained by Nepali Congress,
where Girija Prasad was 5 times PM in 11 years.

If he could not scrap the law, he should be made Achar from the law.

Meanwhile, what I hear from drivers and relatives of Big Politicians
to govt. officers is that they drive vehicles in high speed, because
they are in hurry, and they have imported Japanese vehicles.
Before, I hear Mr. Tamang being prosecuted in court, it should be
made clear that Mr. Girija Prasad's vehicle was under the max.
allowed speed in the particular road. If his vehicle is exceeding
the limit, its not the Tata Truck Driver Tamang be punished but,
Girija's driver should be punished.

Its the time girija got great chances to publicize himself, like
fainting in Parliament in 1990s. Cheap leader.

Hi GPji:

I think they need to change this inhuman rule where a driver can kill a person and
avoid jail sentence just by paying a few rupees. I think it was excruciating to learn
about the incident near Swayambhu somedays ago, when a driver killed a 2.5
yrs old child first, and then backed and crushed his 11 year old sister who
went to rescue her brother.

Those drivers should be charged with intentional homicide. We are a society of
free people. License for driving is not license to kill. It is horrendous. Our media
should think about this and voice their concern loudly.

Paras kills 2 or 3 and is left to drive again. An innocent driver so much as has an accident with an official car and he is left begging for his life. This is justice in Nepal. Koirala has no dignity so I doubt he will allow this driver to have any dignity either.

Voice for Justice in Nepal largely depends on how much politiical fortune that would bring as a consequence. Everyone knows how exaggerated response UML showed when Madan Bhandari was killed in that unforgettable road mishap. Do you remeber how the agenda was succesfully used as a spring board to launch the massive UML election campaign that ultimately brought power to the UML's hand? and That was the end of that story.

Now if the chameleon MPs of Nepali congress ( who are not in this jumbo cabinet)smell any kind of conspiracy in this mere aciident, then this is how they are showing their moral support to encourage Giraja to topple Deuba government. ,

Thitoji:

I again saw one of those collective appeal citing 'there is some conspiracy behind
this accident' today by some Congressi morons. As you say, those who didn't
made it to ministry are the ones who saw the world full of conspiracy.

You are right about Madan Bhandari thing. I am ashamed to read about those
exploitation by UML. All Madan's family at the time wanted was a non-political
investigation of that accident. Dr Kailash Bhandari, brother of the slain leader, in a
lot of conversation with me and his other intimate friends , had expressed this
desire.Of course, the family was worried about whether the accident was
conspired one or not, but they didn't want it to be political issue, and they very
well knew it was being exploited by someone from outside of their family.

This kind of incidences have happened, and the right of families to mourn have
been interfered. It is so shameful, and we can realize this if we just try to
emphathize with the bereaved family. But politics is so cruel, and Nepali politics has
always been so ruthless! The same politicizing of death ("lash ko raajniti(LKR)") was
repeated again by UML after the death of Man Mohan Adhikari. Again this LKR
was done against wishes of the family members of these dead leaders.

UML suffers from this because UML has intellectual vacuum. Its ideology is based
on the failed experimentations, and defunct hypotheses. It is trying to find out
rendezvous to have a tryst with democratic ideas, but its violent anti-democratic
past, and its way of inculcating in its cadres minds the iridescent dream of
egalatarian society hampers its apparent intention to sing duet with the force of
democracy. Its leaders are too corrupt to be considered leaders of proleterians.
No wonder Maoists were (are) stealing away their cadres.

But what is the problem with NC? Plain greed. Even if Maoists problem is solved
today, NC is not going to address the root causes that stemmed the Maoists
movement. They will probably use the Maoists affected areas as another maagi
khaane bhaado. Attempts are already afoot to get money from donors for their
ISDP(or whatever the hell that is) thing. And Girija is indubitably the major reason
why NC is in current shape.

It was another UNFORTUNATE of the country that he is not dead even after this accident. Bhagyamani Girija.....Abhagi Nepal......

Thanks for sharing the story. I think the character "D-Day" in the movie National Lampoon's Animal House put it best:

"Rrrrramming SPEEEEEEEED!"
